Hi, John. Sorry i have not noticed this earlier. Having written the policies im going to make something new for this, a portal. Some of your ideas will make it in. So thank you for contributing!!! Keep it up! --ISD Eshtir 17:31, 18 October 2009 (UTC)
Policy is a term referring to the processes and rules observed involving the creation, editing and management of articles on the EVElopedia as well as treatment of other users. This is to be distinguished from a guideline which suggests etiquette and practice to make management and presentation of the EVElopedia more consistent and streamlined.
Violating an EVElopedia policy will, at the very least, lead to a page being edited to conform to policy. Edits or new pages that are created that do not conform to a specific policy are subject to change by another user (assuming that change conforms with policy) without expectation of appeal to an administrator, as is all content within the site; however, it may also lead to the page being deleted or, for the worst offenses, it may lead to the poster being banned or blocked. Treatment of users who engage in destruction of content, harassment, or misuse of content (spam) is also governed by policy.
These are the policies for using EVElopedia:
Please note that the EVE-Online Terms of Service also apply on the EVElopedia. They can be found here.
EVElopedia Rules
Read and understand them before using the EVElopedia.
- You must have an active EVE Online game account to edit and create articles on the EVElopedia.
- Your EVElopedia account is linked to your game account. If you are suspended or banned from the game or forum, you will not be able to edit or create pages on the EVElopedia.
- Posting of images is allowed:
- Images may be posted if they are directly relevant to the EVElopedia article and follow the size (width x height) and filesize restrictions. The EVElopedia accepts non-copywritten images up to 5MB, they must be also be relevant to the article and EVE Online as a whole, or they will be removed.
- Share your knowledge, but be respectful of others at all times.
- The purpose of the EVElopedia is to provide a wiki platform for EVE Online players with active accounts to share their knowledge of the EVE world, EVE events or EVE game structure and gameplay with other users in a moderated but open fashion. Occasionally there will be conflicts that might arise when people voice opinions, but remember to be courteous when disagreeing with others and to always follow the Terms of Service and observe the Policies of EVE Online.
- Private communication between CCP representatives or EVElopedia staff and users is not to be made public on the EVElopedia or the EVE Online forums or by any other venue.
- You are not permitted to publicize any private correspondence (including petitions) received from any of the aforementioned.
- Warnings and bans are not to be discussed on the EVElopedia or the official EVE Online forum.
- Such matters shall remain private between CCP and the user. Questions or comments concerning warnings and bans will be conveyed through e-mail. If you have a dispute with another wiki contributer or a EVElopedia moderator, please contact evelopedia@isd.eve-online.com.
- Immediate banning from the EVElopedia can result from any of the following:
- EVElopedia policy strictly prohibits the posting of pornography, or images not directly associated with EVE Online; discriminatory remarks which are sexually explicit, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, obscene, hateful, racially or ethnically offensive or which envoke offensve reactions or suppress the overall atmosphere of the EVElopedia; excessive obscene or vulgar language in any fashion; edits which discuss or illustrate illegal activity of any kind; or by providing links to sites or articles that contain any of the aforementioned.
- Spamming or Vandalism of the EVElopedia is prohibited.
- Spam is considered to be repetitive posting of the same topic or text or nonsensical posts that have no substance and are often designed to annoy other users. Vandalism is any addition, removal or change of content made in a deliberate attempt to compromise the integrity of EVElopedia. The most common types of vandalism include the addition of obscenities or crude humor, page blanking or the insertion of nonsense into articles.
- Any good-faith effort to improve the EVElopedia, even if misguided or ill-considered, is not vandalism. Even harmful edits that are not explicitly made in bad faith are not considered vandalism. For example, adding a personal opinion to an article once is not vandalism — it's just not helpful, and will be removed or restated. Not all vandalism is obvious, nor are all massive or controversial changes vandalism.
- If you find that another user has vandalized EVElopedia, you should contact us at evelopedia@isd.eve-online.com. Users who vandalize EVElopedia repeatedly despite warnings to stop will have their EVElopedia editing privileges revoked, as shown in the Banning/Warning Rules below.
- Do not post about bugs and exploits.
- Bugs and exploits should be reported through the proper method by filing a bug report for our Quality Assurance department. You can find the form here. Issues discovered while playing on the test server should be noted in the Game Development Forum. Discussions about unverified problems in the game can cause unnecessary panic in the community. When there is an issue the community needs to be aware of, we will make an official statement about it on the EVE Online forums and/or via the in-game news.
- Impersonating another EVElopedia user, moderator, volunteer, administrator or CCP employee is strictly prohibited.
- You are expressly forbidden from impersonating anyone else, including those named above, on the EVElopedia, forum or in the game, even in jest. This may be grounds for permanent loss of your EVElopedia editing privileges and possibly your EVE Online account as well.
- All pages and edits must be about or related to EVE Online.
- Posts about other games or game companies, products or services not related to EVE are not permitted.
- You may not post advertisements.
- Advertisements are all prohibited, such as discussing or linking to online auction sites or the sale of in-game goods or services for real money, which are strictly prohibited.
- Profanity is prohibited.
- Please avoid using profanity or words that may cause offense to others.
- Disputes which cannot be resolved between EVElopedia users and moderators may be arbitrated by the EVElopedia administrators.
- To discuss problems or concerns, please send an e-mail to: evelopedia@isd.eve-online.com.
- Please use English when using the EVElopedia.
- Please use English when editing or creating new pages on the EVElopedia as a courtesy to other players. Edits or pages that contain other languages will be removed.
- No posting of personal information.
- Please respect the in-game privacy of other players and yourself by not posting personal information about yourself or any other players on the EVElopedia, even if you think the information is in a safe place or hidden from view. This is strictly prohibited and will be dealt with swiftly.
- You may not use the EVElopedia to recruit for your corporation or alliance.
- The EVElopedia is an informational resource. Whilst you are permitted to submit an article about your corporation or alliance it is to remain factual and neutral.

And my list of problems needing correction:
Basic revisions needed or requested for Article page
1) Simple grammatical or spelling errors are as follows:
1a) Make sure all headers have a : (colon) at the end to show that the next statements are to be used with the topic and not just clarifying statements that some may overlook.
1b) Within the line, Images may be posted if they are directly relevant to the EVElopedia article and follow the size and filesize restrictions, some users may not distinguish between the size and filesize difference and read them as the same. The line might need to be changed to say size (width x height) and filesize restrictions or another form of the same.
1c) Also, The EVElopedia accepts images up to 5MB and they must be relevant to the article or it will be removed, uses both they and it, showing many items and then just one, you could just as well say, ''The EVElopedia accepts non-copywritten images up to 5MB, they must be also be relevant to the article and EVE Online as a whole, or they will be removed, which will stop people from making an article on poop and posting a relevant image and arguing it is relevant and therefore must stay, and also tackles the issue of copyrights and also un-tangles EVE Online from these issues of copyrights, because they are stated in the Policies and therefore any misuse is of the user and not the wiki or its owners.
1d) The lines here, The purpose of the EVElopedia is to provide a wiki platform for EVE Online players with active accounts to share their knowledge of EVE with other users. Occasionally, there will be conflicts that arise when people voice opinions. Be courteous when disagreeing with others, could be revised to say the same, but in a more correct fashion, like so, The purpose of the EVElopedia is to provide a wiki platform for EVE Online players with active accounts to share their knowledge of the EVE world, EVE events or EVE game structure and gameplay with other users in a moderated but open fashion. Occasionally there will be conflicts that might arise when people voice opinions, but remember to be courteous when disagreeing with others and to always follow the Terms of Service and observe the Policies of EVE Online. and the title changed to "Share your knowledge, but be respectful of others at all times to encompass the whole statement in one sentence/phrase.
1e) The lines, EVElopedia policy strictly prohibits the posting of pornography; discriminatory remarks which are sexually explicit, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, obscene, hateful, racially or ethnically offensive; excessive obscene or vulgar language; edits which discuss or illustrate illegal activity; providing links to sites that contain any of the aforementioned, are a jumble that people may get lost in, we can change them to help and assure compliance, EVElopedia policy strictly prohibits the posting of pornography, or images not directly associated with EVE Online; discriminatory remarks which are sexually explicit, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, obscene, hateful, racially or ethnically offensive or which envoke offensve reactions or suppress the overall atmosphere of the EVElopedia; excessive obscene or vulgar language in any fashion; edits which discuss or illustrate illegal activity of any kind; or by providing links to sites or articles that contain any of the aforementioned.
1f) The section on spamming and vandalism is well written, just append to the end this change, Users who vandalize EVElopedia repeatedly despite warnings to stop will have their EVElopedia editing privileges revoked, as shown in the Banning/Warning Rules below, to change the spelling error or revolked to revoked and to show users the policy for banning/warnings at and on this page at the bottom.
1g) About not posting advertisements, if your going to say you can't post any advertisementsa and the list those tipes, you've just limited yourselves. It would be like going out to eat and the waitress saying you can't have anything on the menu, and then just eliminating some of the selevtions with a marker and allowing the rest. You may just need to re-iterate the main point without limiting it, like such, Advertisements are all prohibited, such as discussing or linking to online auction sites or the sale of in-game goods or services for real money, which are strictly prohibited. This includes these in a list of others, and not excludes the others from within a list as it is now.
1h) Another of the above, about not posting personal information. After that statement, you say not to post information about other people while the topic says not to post any personal information. You're limiting yourselves again, a simple thing to overlook and repeat. Here's what might be a better option for that section, Please respect the in-game privacy of other players and yourself by not posting personal information about yourself or any other players on the EVElopedia, even if you think the information is in a safe place or hidden from view. This is strictly prohibited and will be dealt with swiftly.
1i) Also, The EVElopedia is an informational resource. Whilst you are permitted to submit an article about your corporation or alliance it is to remain factual and neutral, is a better way of stating it and a small correction to spelling with information becoming informational, because it is informational. :)
1j) And last but not least, a spelling correction. Information on the Banning procedere, should be Information on banning procedures, as procedure is the correct spelling. Also, you may want to say that severe problems or breaches of the Policies or the Terms of Service will result in a skipping of the banning/warning procedures and could result in a perm-ban or other merciless punishment.
This list may be incomplete, but what I list should all be correct and changed as you see fit.
Thanks for reading, and I've set up a page with all of these corrections here.
