Description

Lounge bar and point of contact for Naraka. employees.

Futzchag II - Thukker Mix Factory: Located on the upper parts of the station this luxurious lounge bar stands in sharp contrast with the more common establishments surrounding it. Bouncers dressed in crisp uniforms stand guard on each side of the double darkened glass entrance doors, keeping a close eye on who is and isn't allowed in. The door arch is lined with LEDs emitting a lush dark blue light. The rest of the facade has been replaced by the same darkened glass panels. Mounted upon the panels above the entrance a set of minimalistic white letters spells out "The Skyhook".

Upon entering clients pass through a security checkpoint where all weapons and explosives are scanned out and confiscated by security personnel to be put in holding. Should cooperation be refused another pair of bouncers stands ready to swiftly remove troublemakers. Further down the hall a fully automated cloakroom and secure safes provide a temporary storage service for personal effects.

Stepping through a second set of double darkened glass doors you enter a dimly lit space with low seated sofa's, couches, chairs and bean bags strewn around the circular perimeter, huddled around smaller, coffee table like surfaces. The dim light is made up for its lack of strength by liberal abundance of other sources, showing hues of dark blue and purple emanating from ledges near the ceiling, under seats, tables and the bar.

The bar is centered in the middle of the Skyhook, modeled in a congruent circle to that of the space surrounding it and sitting about 20 feet from the nearest sofa. The bar's surface is made of glass with a display underneath it that displays patterns of light, or mimics smoke or water movements based on how a patron touches the surface. The bar's seats are much higher than any other seat in the Skyhook. This, of course, ensures proper posture when initiating social encounters. A solid, three-dimensional, abstract design wraps around the section of the bar where patrons hang their legs in front of. The steadily changing light emanating from under the bar's surface continually shifts shadows on this design to give the impression that it is morphing itself over and over again. A tower with all kinds of liquor shoots up from the very center of the bar, each bottle sitting atop a small cluster of LEDs that seem to light up each beverage from the inside in a color coded scheme based on the drink's origin and type. This tower only extends about 14 feet so as not to ruin the view for those who are just walking in. The bar is manned by a team of three barmen or barwomen providing everyone with their favorite "poison".

Coming in and walking down about 12 steps, the bar sits in the middle of the Skyhook, but following past the bar leads to a huge window offering a panoramic view of 117 degrees of space in all of its infinite glory. The seats closest to the view are elevated onto a deck that is roped off to the regular clientele and are reserved to higher end, better paying customers, Naraka. employees, or members of the Cartel itself. Here too the space is divided by assorted seats and tables. One server attends the deck at all times, and is immediately replaced when an order is fetched, to provide the VIP clients with their requests, helping them safely on and off the deck steps and regulate who can and can't come up. Next to the deck is a stage on which performers can provide the audience with live music. In their absence the spare is claimed by various DJ's spinning a mix of ambient, chillout and lounge music. In front of the stage a small dance floor is created by the simple absence of furniture and additional ambient light.

Naraka. employees are able to leave and exit the bar through the rear entrance orientated approximately on the other side from the entrance and right next to the stage on the other side of the VIP deck. These doors lead to the corporate and invite-only facilities and are guarded by no less that four bouncers, the only personnel inside the main area of the bar allowed to carry weapons behind the security checkpoint, a restriction which even applies to Naraka. pilots.

Halfway between the front and rear entrance and opposite of the window double both-way doors with circular windows lead to a state of the art kitchen managed by the master chef -- who runs a tight crew and is very unforgiving with blunders, but one of the very best at what she does -- and her four command chefs. The kitchen is moderate sized, and is able to provide for all The Skyhook's needs.

Servers are dressed in clean and professional attire, but are encouraged to use modern and slightly rebellious hairstyles. There are no exotic dancers in this place. Light narcotics are also sold at the bar and can be freely enjoyed within the Skyhook, though just as with alcohol misbehavior under influence results in security personnel stepping in and removing those causing trouble. Regular offenders of any of the Skyhook's rules will get their entrance rights to the bar revoked.

Fusion Thruster

  • Type: Alcoholic Cocktail
  • Active ingredients: Caldari Vodka, "Luminaire X" Tonic water, various clear fruit juices (type depending on regional availability)
  • Serving size: Highball glass
  • Visual description: A sparkling blueish liquid that gives off a fluorescent blue glow.
  • Taste: Despite it's high alcohol content, it has a pleasant fruity taste. Often described as a mix of grapefruit, mango and pomegranate.
  • Effects: Intoxication - degree varies depending on quantities of ingredients used. Also - if consumed in large quantities - has the somewhat disturbing side effect of making the drinker's urine glow.
  • Original contributor: Kimochi Rendar
  • Additional information: Consumed almost exclusively in nightclubs. The ingredient which gives this drink it's distinctive blue glow is the "Luminaire X" tonic water, produced by the Quafe corporation. Quafe corp was brought under scrutiny several years ago when several consumer advice groups questioned the unusually high Quinine content of it's Luminaire X product - enough to cause the product to fluoresce even in normal light. Quafe corp responded by reassuring it's customers that the fluorescence is caused by a harmless reaction between the Quinine and a chemical preservative, and would cause no negative health effects. Further studies where due to take place, but nothing more has been heard on the matter.

Tanuki

  • Type: Alcoholic Cocktail
  • Active ingredients: 2cl Vodka, 2cl Mint liquor, 4cl Pineapple juice

Kaalakiota Sunstorm

  • Type: Alcoholic beverage
  • Active ingredients: Connosieurs say that a real Sunstorm has no fixed ingredients, things are just thrown in. However, the classic recipe consists of - among other things - Thukker rum, a hefty shot of Civire brandy, and assorted red vegetable juices. The secret ingredient that makes the Sunstorm what it is is the pyerite mineral extract.
  • Serving size: For safety reasons, most bars refuse to sell the Sunstorm in more than shot glasses. Most fans of the drink claim that it isn't a real Sunstorm if it isn't in at least a half-pint glass. A full pint is the ultimate test of constitution, and often results in medical attention being needed.
  • Original contributor: Elysa Varbolt
  • Visual description: Thick, black, sticky liquid with blood red streaks running through it.
  • Effects: Intoxication. Large quantities are harmful and thus discouraged.
  • Additional information: Developed by Kaalakiota dock workers as a cheap means of getting drunk, the 'secret ingredients' act to catalyse the alcohol content. As a result, it's alcohol percentage is lower than one might expect, and results in a relatively mild hangover - but overdosing is more likely to result in brain damage and emergency medical treatment than passing out on the floor. Very few locations offer Sunstorms on their menus for this reason, but the ingredients are so simple that a little cajoling can often produce one..
