Suicide ganking or suicide attacking of ships in high security space (that is 0.5 - 1.0) involves pirates (usually working in a team) who will sacrifice one of their ships in order to destroy a victim's ship, knowing full well that doing so will trigger a CONCORD response. The ship that does the attacking, knows it will be destroyed by CONCORD or sentry guns, however, it does so safe in the knowledge that its allies will obtain the victims' loot after it has destroyed the victim's ship.

The type of ships that are sacrificed vary as the specs of ships themselves change. Usually however, the pirates will only wish to risk a ship the cheapest ship possible.

The suicide attack is normally only going to be used on players that have something worth taking. The pirates will not usually risk losing their ship (even a cheap one) without the prospect of some gain. Players moving valuable materials in even high security space, need to take into account the fact that pirates using this suicide method may still destroy them and take what they have.

Pirates engaging in this practice will usually loiter near jump gates or stations, but could also appear in force in asteroid belts to attack the victim.
