This guide seems a bit outdated
I believe the following have changed since this was written:
I don't think -5 standing will make the navy ships attack you. That's stated twice in this article and again on the page about standings, but I don't think that's true. I've had -5 standing with the Gallente faction and I didn't have any trouble traveling around in their space. (unless you join factional warfare)
[Wrong: -5 definitely causes navies to attack. You probably have Diplomacy and the effective standing with the Gallente Navy is above -5. I have lost a hauler to Gallente police corp within the past 2 months.] Arzamor 11:36, 8 December 2010 (UTC)
Also, I'm sure that one of the patches last year changed security status so that you can't go below -5 security any more. Only people who had lower than -5 before the change took effect can have lower than -5 security now.

There is also no mention of factional warfare missions or Marauder class ships, again leading me to believe this is an old guide. Swift Voyager 19:54, 10 December 2008 (UTC)
- I just tested this and they definitely attack you when you have below -5 standing towards the faction and the only cap, that I'm aware of, in standings is that you can't get above +5 standing from Concord anymore. Swift. Your diplomacy skill makes your -5 standing less than. Thusly they don't attack you.
Sec Status isn't capped at 5.0, Search Jason Edwards ingame on TQ.
- There still exist 2 Cosmos-like (1-run only) agents for Concord that will indeed get you over 5.0. Have also heard that commander or officer spawns in 0.0 will also get you a tiny increase above 5.0. Isorath 23:31, 10 December 2008 (UTC)
Agent Mission %
Some of these seem a bit off to what they actually are in game.
I added a note to the mining agent % as those seem way off to what I've seen in game, the % I posted was by going through standing of the last 95 missions (counted 2 part missions as 1 single mission) 65 of these where mining 30 where hauling. Unfortunately I refuse combat missions so my standing history doesn't show when/how many I got offered so I had to take a rough guess as to how many there where. Been doing mining missions for about a year and these % are about what I've seen in my experience I just don't have much hard data on this and even then chance can mess with it a fair bit. Know your enemy
Is missing Concord -Ship Setups- Amarr does have ammo. The crystals are ammo. Abaddon is a beam ship Apoc is the pulse ship- has optimal bonus.

Recovering Bad Standings
Due to interbus not offering storylines.
You could note that Mordu's Legion Command is ideal for recovering Caldari-Amarr standings.
While Servant Sisters of eve can recover Gallente; then Gallente can recover Minmatar. --Jason Edwards 05:04, 11 December 2008 (UTC)

Mining missions
IIRC you HAVE to mine it because ore are of special type that cannot by traded on market. Correct me if I'm wrong. -- Lumy 23:30, 19 December 2008 (UTC)
you can trade it through the contract system, however one of the mission objectives is to mine out the asteroid so you still need to do that part of the mission. The asteroids will respawn on downtime if you have not completely mined out all the asteroids so if you only half mine out an asteroid just before downtime then completely mine it out after downtime you can farm spare mission ores that way. -- Typhado3 23:54, 19 December 2008 (UTC)

Formula: Standing increase
Standing increase: 10-(10-[Current_Standings])x(1-([%modification]/100)
Lets say my current faction standing is 3.0 and i have made a mission with 3.0%:
10-(10-3.0) x (1 - 3.0/100)
10- 7.0 x (1 - 0.03)
3 x 0.97
= 2.91 points faction gain..
where is my fault?

multiplication take precedence over addition, but parentheses is higher than multiplication, so...
10-(10-3) * (1-3/100)
10 - 7 * 0.97

Planning Ahead
I don't see any guidance for finding the right corp and agent to work for. I see how you can find the agents using the map, and how to find out which ones you can work for using the Corporations agents tab, but I don't see any hinting that you must plan ahead.
I understand that this is a guide for new players, but I think the idea should be implanted. What do I mean by planning ahead? For example, take a new player: Captain Fishburn (random name, dunno if it's actually taken). Cpt. Fishburn is brand new and looking for an agent to work for. He joined EVE to get into combat, and he would really like an agent with a high percentage of encounter missions rather than mining or courier missions. He opens up his map browser and finds a lvl1 Internal Security agent for the corp Urban Management and he decides to go work for them. So he grinds his way up to a lvl3 Internal Security agent, only to find out there's no where else to go. Urban Management doesn't have a lvl4 or 5 'encounter' agent (doesn't have a lvl5 agent period), and Cpt. Fishburn doesn't want to do Accounting, Legal, Public Relations, or Financial type missions: he worked for encounter missions. So now he's stuck looking for a new corp to work for.
I think this article needs to have a section about researching your agents and corp and to try to plan ahead. There are many corps like that out there. Some of them don't take you past lvl2 or 3 missions for one department; some of them take you to lvl4, but the agent quality is bad and might not even be worth working up to;and some of them just suck in what they offer (depends on what you're looking for, I guess =P). This kind of information needs to be presented to the new user reading this article so that they don't work and work and work, only to run into a brick wall and not be able to go further.
Also, storyline agents. I think it should be noted that, while every 16 missions gets you a storyline (SL) agent with your faction, that SL agent is also assigned to a specific corp. When you complete a SL mission, you receive a substantial boost to not only the faction you're working for but also for the SL agents corp. Now, this is fine and dandy if your SL agent comes from the same corp you've been working for, but taking into consideration that SL agents are assigned to be the closest one to the last agent you ran a mission for (the agent mission that triggered the SL mission), this is not likely to be the case. So you could be running missions for one corp, finish a SL mission from a SL agent from another corp, and while you get the faction standing increase, you also get an increase to the SL agents corp -- the corp that you're NOT running missions for, thus the standings increase for that corp isn't beneficial to you at all.
I think the article needs to mention this and advise it's readers to , when in the planning phase from above, choose an agent that's close to a SL agent that belongs to the corp they're working for. That way, when you get a SL mission, the agent works for your corp and you get a major corp standings boost per SL mission.
Or maybe all of this is way too advanced and needs it's separate page? TBH, I think the storyline agent page needs to be merged in with this one. <_< I think I've typed long enough. --Sable Blitzmann 01:01, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
Concord COSMOS / Over 5.00 Security Status
[I've made an edit to the page.] It previously, erronously, stated that a player could not raise his Security Status above 5.00.
In fact, it is possible to raise it above 5.00. There are two Concord COSMOS agents in EVE. By running their missions once you have reached 5.00 standings, your Concord standings will rise ABOVE 5.00. Some have said that, with Social V, you can get your Security Status up to (a rounded) 5.2.
Once a player's sec status drops below 5.00 again, the player will be unable to get it above 5.00, as COSMOS missions can only be run once. There's a possibility that, by fleeting up with someone else as they run the mission, the Concord standings, thus Sec Status, could be raised above (a rounded) 5.2, but I have not seen any confirmation of this. Formula: Standing increase REDUX
The formula is overly complicated as stated. 10-(10-[Current_Standings]) * (1-([%modification]/100))
New = current + change change = (max - current) * percent
So,
New Standings = Current_standings + (10 - current_standings) * %modification / 100
Give current standings of 2.4, and a reasonable level 2 mission status change of 0.5%, we get
new=2.4 + (10-2.4) * 0.5/100
new=2.4 + 7.6 * 0.005
new=2.4 + 0.038
new=2.438

Factional Standings Modification
Based on my personal experience, I think the following statement is wrong:
It should be the Gallente Federation standings towards Minmatar Republic which are taken in consideration.
For example, Gallente Federation holds CONCORD at 3.0, but CONCORD holds Gallente Federation at 0.0. I've only completed Gallentian storyline missions yet, but still have CONCORD standing at 0.0. If it was Gallente Federation standing towards CONCORD taken into account I must have already had a positive CONCORD standing.

Agent Division diversity for Schools
After the social skills revamp in Incursion 1.5 the agents from 7 divisions got in just 3 divisions, all school agents have been transferred to Distribution Division. When is this going to get fixed? --Phoenix Benu 11:38, 4 July 2011 (UTC)
