Talk:Kitz

Word origin
Wow, I find this rather amazing and consider the word for these enclaves well researched : in East Germany, remote and independent dwellings were called Kietz (plural Kietze, were "ie" is simply a long i pronounced like the English ee in "bee"), as I found described on wikipedia. The word still exists today in town names. More prominently though it is used to affectionately describe living districts within Berlin. In fact, historically, many formerly separate dwellings merged into the huge blob that is the city today.
The historic meaning and structure of the Kietze is more complicated and I leave it to the reader of the article above. I just found this very interesting and wanted to share it.
