Sodalitas XX

Formed on the backbones of 5 dedicated corporations, Sodalitas XX is a skilled PvP Alliance.

The History

Story so far:

Precursor to a new age:

To begin the story of Sodalitas XX we must first look prior to its forming. In 2007, 20th Legion reformed after a yearlong break during which members split up and tried varying aspects of eve. Shortly after reforming 20th joined the GBC (Greater BOB Coalition) alliance, Digital Renegades. At this time DR was involved in an attempt to take sovereignity control of Paragon Soul. 20th quickly moved into TPAR-G and joined the fight, which by that point had become a losing battle. Shortly after withdrawing from Paragon Digital Renegades folded.

Wishing to remain in the GBC, 20th joined the Southern Cross Alliance and settled into life in Querious. SCA was then asked by Band of Brothers to invade Paragon Soul and 20th once again moved down to TPAR-G and the fight was on. Despite not bringing in caps, SCA managed to take sov in one system and in holding against United Legion and their allies had several victories in battle. During this time however the leadership of SCA and several within the 20th Leadership and membership began having disputes.

Having had enough, 20th withdrew from SCA and joined Axiom Empire, another GBC alliance. It was shortly after joining AXE that Goonswarm managed to disband BoB and the war for Delve began. 20th and AXE joined the fight to assist BoB in retaining their sov control of Delve. However, when it became obvious it was a losing endeavour and BoB began distancing itself from GBC alliances, the leadership of AXE called a meeting and announced the alliance would withdraw from Querious and Delve to set off on their own. Not wanting to leave, 20th began talks with Southern Comfort alliance. However, after several conversations with upper management it was decided to remain with AXE and see what future could be wrought.

AXE moved to the area around the Great Wildlands and set about to become a mercenary alliance. Over the course of time however, AXE leadership became less and less present and alliance operations gradually ceased. After a few weeks with little to no contact from AXE leadership, 20th withdrew from the alliance.

There’s plenty more to the tale of 20th Legion but what is outlined here is enough to impart what is pertinent to the forming of Sodalitas XX. After having gone through everything that 20th went through in the GBC, one thing remained unanimous among both the leadership and membership of 20th. We would not join anyone else’s alliance again. We would make it or break it as a corp or in our own alliance, run the way we felt was best.

The Name:

On 2009-05-08 the button was pushed and Sodalitas XX was born. Sodalitas, Latin for secret society or brotherhood. XX; roman numerals for 20 also used as short hand for 20th. The name states the goal, 4 corps+20th all with driven leadership, all friends, All members of a brotherhood, a tight knit family with a single goal; to build a strong independent alliance, a family. And so now we had a name, our immediate purpose to grow in numbers and experience.

Starting off with a bang:

So now we had an alliance, we now had need of some brothers in arms, a role fulfilled when The Ostrogoths joined soon after the alliance formed. Now to grow we needed activity, so it was decided to wardec someone and enjoy the resultant pew pew. It didn’t take Cochise but a second to decide that GoonSwarm would be the target of our wardec. So we all packed up our ships and moved down closer to Querious & Delve; the Goons new home.

We had a lot of new members, many new to PvP, but anxious to learn and learn they did. We held a roughly 50% efficiency against the Goonies, but fights became scarce as they embarked upon a regional war somewhere else on the map. We eventually dropped the wardec, moved closer to the Querious gateway and set to hunting Goons and their friends in 0.0. It was during this period that Reeh Industrial, who’s CEO was x-20th, joined the alliance. A month later CBEI also joined the alliance and joined the fight.

A new direction:

As time went on it became increasingly more difficult to pvp effectively in Querious and Delve as Querious was all but devoid of life and when we travelled all the way to Delve we would inevitably be out-manned by larger Goon fleets. Attendance began to fall off because of the difficulty hunting Goonies. A new member of 20th got some kills of neuts in CVA space which upset the Ostrogoths, who were CVA friendly, and they withdrew from the alliance.

It was decided by leadership to take our pvp fleet on the road to see what we could do in different areas of space. After extensive scouting and intel gathering, we moved our pvp fleet into Syndicate, soon followed by the entire alliance. Our new direction, everyone fights, no full time carebears. All efforts poured into improving our pvp capabilities and k/d ratio.

Things started off well as the constellation we moved into had some locals for us to shoot at. We had lots of fun skirmishing with them constantly as we all tried to reside in the same area. During this period Reeh industrial was kicked from the alliance for attendance and failure to meet recruiting goals. We also joined a small coalition including shadows incursion, chain of chaos and Freedom of Elbas.

Things with the coalition went very well for a short while, however SINS decided to break up and many of them went to join finfleet to get in on the big fights. We stuck it out with the coalition and moved into 4L-E5P to all be together for joint ops. Now of course when I say all together that’s limited to primarily FOE and ORDR as most of the coalition primarily resided in lowsec.

Operations with the coalition continued to go well and our membership was quickly gaining much needed pvp experience. 20th ran most of the coalition ops in Syndicate including daily roams. Coalition participation in Syndicate dropped off significantly to where fleets consisted of all but a handful from ORDR.

It was about this time as 2009 came to a close that we found that an old friend was back and rebuilding his corp. Immediately it was discussed by leadership and it was decided to make every attempt to recruit them. And so it was that Imperium Technologies joined Sodalitas XX.

A change of scenery. Sort of...:

After recruiting IT their CEO Avernus recommended Imperial Tau Syndicate as a potential new corp to recruit as well. After conversations between the alliance and IMPSS, they also joined the alliance. We continued to hunt Syndicate and plan for the future.

Soon an opportunity arose as Goonswarm imploded and –IT- and –A- began taking over Querious and Delve, and the alliance was offered a chance to reside for a time in Querious helping to secure -A- space there. We packed our bags and moved back to good ole Querious again, during our time there getting numerous kills and controlling the pipe. During this period talks began with 2 more corps to join the alliance. Wyld Hunt, old friends from the coalition in Syndicate, and Dynaverse. Soon after reaching Querious both joined the alliance and CBEI folded into 20th. So now we had our 5 corps. As the troops built up their wallets management looked towards the next move.

An offer of a new home:

It was around this time that -A- and Unity began their invasion of Providence. It was decided that we would take the alliance and go assist in Providence for pew pew fun. It was at this time that -A- offered us an interesting proposition. A constellation in Providence to have as our own. After careful consideration, management decided this would be a good stepping stone for us, and so we along with Unity, -A-, Atlas and Daisho Syndicate sieged and took sovereignty control of 12 systems in Providence within the first week. After numerous other operations helping -A- install various other alliances into Providence, we gradually settled into our constellation, using the "downtime" to build back our wealth. But peacetime never lasts long.....

Darkness falls - Cloaking works both ways:

The following months were extremely eventful, with war decs from various alliances including Hydra Reloaded who would frequently roam our space in faction cruisers with Logisitics, but quickly changed out to cheaper, slower ships when they realised we wouldn't fight against stupid odds. Shortly after Hydra joined the fight, Reaper Industries also joined in. They seemed to specialize in sitting cloaked in systems, waiting for everyone to forget about them then striking lone ratting battleships, or even covert cynoing on carriers. We took heavy losses, but the cloak and dagger was not all one way.

It was during this time that "Black ORDR" was formed, a dedicated unit for use of cloaky ships to take out high value targets, getting in and out as fast as possible. This use of the unit secured us various kills including a Caldari Navy Raven and a Thanatos.

-BOB- New brothers in arms

It was around this time that -BOB- (Band of Builders) joined ORDR. In words from the corp themselves:

After a couple of weeks in EoS, BOB leadership decided that the fading alliance was not where they wanted to be and began to look at other possible alliances they could join.

Sodalitas had several members that were former corp and alliance members from Libera. They were sold on the fact that Sodalitas had good pocket defense as well as a very active player-base ready to fight as well as make money, somthing their former alliances lacked.

After several weeks of moving in and getting settled BOB looks to moving out some tech 1 production to help supply the market with goods, and of course gather isk to increase the alliance and their own cap fleet.
