Roga Dracor: Theory of the Ancients
Ancient Spacefaring Nations (A Theory of the Ancients)

Introduction
For those of us belonging to the modern Four Empires, and the Inner Sphere and the Outer Ring Factions, our recorded history of New Eden, at best, extends back some seven to ten thousand years. The Jove have been reported to say that the Eve Gate closed roughly fifteen thousand, five hundred standard years ago. We had always assumed that the Jove maintained a large interstellar empire around the primitive worlds in the six to eight thousand years before we returned to space to join them.
And then we found evidence of other Ancient space-faring nations, with cultures that conflicted with what we knew of the Jove. Or, maybe they didn't. And maybe, they might have been contemporaries of some of the Jovian Empires.
If so, why did they disappear? And why have the Jove never shared knowledge of these societies with us?
The Yan Jung
Let us first address the Yang Jungs. Original settlers to New Eden, as we assume the Jove to have been. They settled over a large swath of known space, if the legends are right.
There has been initial confirmation that the Yan Jungs used crystaline substances to harden armor plate and as integral starship systems components that are barely explored by modern science. It is likely a clearer understanding of this technology that forms the bulk of Rogue Drone systems.
- ""Supposition""
It is within the Algintal area that we find the largest caches of identified Yan Jung artifacts. These artifacts are the only method we have with which to judge the Yan Jungs and their culture.
Cursory evidence suggests the Yan Jungs were a typical spacefaring culture, with some interesting differences.
The Yan Jungs excelled in mathematics and computational theory. Their Binary Transpositional Code is possibly the single most important re-discovery of knowledge we have gleaned from them. And could explain one of the advantages the Jove enjoyed in the early years after the Eve Gate closed.
The Yang Yung studied Semiotic Theory quite prevalently, from the large number of texts available for purchase in Jita.
Semiotic Theory maintains the following underlying ideas;
A sign is understood as a discrete unit of meaning. It is defined as "something that stands for something, to someone in some capacity". It includes words, images, gestures, scents, tastes, textures, sounds – essentially all of the ways in which information can be communicated as a message by any sentient, reasoning mind to another(Semiosis). As such, Semiotic Theory is a linguistic science. But, one not simply limited to the spoken word. But intimately connected to linguistics.
To a linguist, to name a thing, an interactive community has agreed on a simple meaning (a denotative meaning) within their language. But that word can transmit that meaning only within the language's grammatical structures and codes ( syntax and semantics). Codes also represent the values of the culture, and are able to add new shades of connotation to every aspect of life.
So, we must assume the naming of objects to be of single import to the Yan Jung peoples. This importance of language apparently transcended racial dialect to the point tha Yan Jung were likely capable of translating many languages with ease. Utilizing the well understood science of Semiotics and associative memory, the Yan Jung found it relatively easy to translate text and code.
The Yan Jung, if my current hypothesis is sustained through a research project I will soon propose, created a universal translation system for computer code ( Yan Jung Micro Processor, Binary Transpositional Code).
From this base, we should be able to gain a better understanding of any binary systems we wish to study.
