Origins of Murientor

Preface

The Origins of Murientor is not considered to be historically correct or even emotionally correct. It illustrates what kind of difficulties young Murientor face when they are searching for their own identity. There is a gap in Murientor history between the myths and legends of old which describe the events up to the Amarr invasion and recent history. Veritar’s story is just one of the attempts to fill that gap. In the end, Murientor absorb the myths, legends and stories, then look at the universe around them and gradually learn who they are and how to act like a Murientor.

The Origins of Murientor was written shortly after the Minmatar Rebellion in part to boost Murientor Tribal spirit and to recruit Murientor for the colonization of a New-Santir. The Origins of Murientor marks the beginning of recent Tribe history. Due to the need to rally Murientor for the cause certain elements of Tribe legend were exaggerated. It is not believed that Murientor ever ruled over a Constellation-State, but the story reflects the dreams of the author and her generation of Murientor. Whatever the case may be, the impact of Origins of Murientor cannot be underestimated.

Origins of Murientor

Sometime during the second Jovian empire, three Jovians decided to head out into the universe, looking for knowledge of a different kind. They were looking for emotions and for a cure to the disease which plagued their people.

They were literally sick of the unnatural and purely technological ways of their society. They wanted to feel close to nature again, reproduce naturally, feel physical pain, physical joy, feel what it is like to really be alive. They had lost their faith in cybernetics as a way to keep a society healthy. There was only one way out, a new colony had to be founded where the genetical code would be determined by natural selection and not by design.

Unfortunately they were no longer capable of natural reproduction and had to resort to embryonic engineering once more. Soon it became apparrent that their genes needed some help. It was decided that they would select a number of individuals from among the other people in the universe. After many generations of mixing and mingling a healthy people were born. Their genes, partly Minmatar, partly Gallente and for a small part Jovian, are the genes which all Murientor share.

After less than a millenium the Murientor were already a blossoming civilization. They value cooperation higher than competition and beauty higher than practicality. Above all, the Murientor appreciate diversity, for without it, true beauty does not exist.

As the Murientor advanced, they collonized all the solar-systems in their Constellation. Soon they made contact with their neighbours: the Minmatar. To avoid any unnecessary violence the Murientor presented themselves as a regular Minmatar tribe. The other Minmatar tribes had no problem welcoming them in their circle. It is likely that their advanced technology and partly Minmatar looks aided greatly in establishing peace with the Minmatar.

Many centuries passed, the Murientor thrived, and they could enjoy much repect from the other tribes. Art, Technology, Literature and Love prospered.

Then. As a bolt out of the blue the Amarr arrived.

As quickly as they had risen as a respected and largely independent Constellation-State they found themselves sucked up by a black hole. The Amarr empire.

Unprepared for a sudden attack the Constellation-State was overrun by Amarrian troops. What made matters even worse was the collaboration of one of the neighbouring Minmatar tribes with the Amarr. Soon the Murientor found themselves enslaved by a people which they saw as friends only so recently. This once Minmatar tribe even changed their name to Ammatar in order to reflect their allegiance. The Amarr, afraid that the Murientor might spark resistance in Ammatar ranks, made sure to disperse them accross the universe. For years they slaved away far from their homeland, keeping its memory firmly in their hearts.

Now the time has come for New-Santir! The time has come to make the Ammatar pay!

That wit, wild beauty and love may roam free once again!
