Kedakai Uraata
Kedakai Uraata, napaani for "noble sacrifice", is a privately owned fund by the Eokisei family aimed at assisting returning caldari war veterans, especially those who suffered from a disability through their service. While social welfare is not by any means strong in the State, Kedakai Uraata argues that those they've chosen to protect are heroes, often unsung, and every one of these servicemen have done their duty and sacrificed much for the State, having proven their merit without a shred of doubt.
Services offered
1) The fund owns several residential housing districts on various planets throughout State controlled space where veterans are offered significantly cheaper rates than on comparable housing districts and are allowed to move in with their family. This also includes dormitories for bachelors as well as homes for the elderly. By allowing the families in the district's demographics are mixed and less of a subculture than different, often megacorporate, housing projects for similar cases.
2) Fused to these districts Kedakai Uraata tries to settle small scale industry, often through small subsidiaries of big names like Kaalakiota Corporation, Lai Dai Corporation or Wiyrkomi Corporation, to provide suitable employment opportunities for both family members and veterans alike.
3) Additionally the fund offers medical care aimed at restoring quality of life through a network of private clinics specialized on psychological trauma, a topic rarely brought up in the State, and cybernetics.
4) A sizeable army of lawyers is also employed, offering both legal counsel and protection.
5) Kedakai Uraata runs several social projects teaching the youth of today about the heroes of yesterday. This includes appearances in military academies and créches alike, generally raising awareness to the issue while remembering citizens to respect those who have gladly risked and sacrificed life and limb through service. The fund tries to re-integrate disabled veterans into corporate work life through various programs, such as the aforementioned employment possibilities in the housing districts.
Finances
The fund is privately owned through the Eokisei family, a wealthy family hailing from New Caldari Prime Aside from the family fortune private donations are contributing the biggest share of Kedakai Uraatas finances, closely followed by corporate donations, dominated by Kaalakiota, Wiyrkomi and Lai Dai. While financial backing is done through most of the big eight, the control about the money and assets lies entirely by the fund and therefore the Eosikei family itself. Haito Eokisei, a veteran himself, is adamant about staying independant.
Similar programs
While it is true that every megacorporation has projects aimed at compensating veterans Kedakai Uraata stands out in a way that it does not offer mere financial compensation but also opportunities usually tailored to each person's needs. Kedakai Uraata also offers assistance to those who have slipped through the cracks of the system, as long as they were servicemen and women.
Especially medical services are difficult to finance, since quality of life is not the main goal for the employer. Kedakai Uraata offers operations financed from donations, allowing disabled veterans to regain their health - or at least bodily functions - where similar medical interventions would've been non-financeable otherwise.
The founder, Haito Eokisei, was quoted with the words "Kedakai Uraata starts where the megacorporations stop. We are not belittling their efforts, but we use our means to assist where needed. No one is left behind.''
