Factional Warfare - NPC Review (CSM)

Summary

The NPCs guarding FW plexes are nowhere near equal in strength between the factions. Amarr and Gallente NPCs mostly have short range turret ships, which are easily kited or avoided. The biggest complaints are the Caldari e-war (continuous jamming of multiple targets) and extreme range and damage of their missiles (cruise missiles do not seem to be affected by the missile nerf as they can easily kill frigates at 200km+). The minmatar elite cruisers also pose a problem due to their extreme damage output and their high resistances.

Meanwhile the Gallente and Amarr have turret ships, which unlike missiles, can easily be speedtanked or avoided alltogether due to their limited range. Besides their limited neut capabilities their E-war is useless compared to the Caldari jamming.

The imbalance between the Gallente and Caldari NPCs is often cited as one of the reasons why the Gallente were demotivated to do plexing, and the Caldari more easily captured Gallente systems.

Potential Solutions

  • Remove E-war from NPCs
  • Mix weaponry a bit more, some long range, some shortrange, some missiles.
  • Give all factions equal countermeasures against speedtankers
  • Reduce power of NPCs but make destroying them all a requirement to capture the site
