Content | The first week of my project has had good and bad points.
The bad: I have not received even one donation of a biological sample from Anoikis. The only ones I have were collected my myself or a corp mate. The sample I received from the corp mate may not have been properly handled (It was the first one). Some of it was donated to Dr Tukoss. Soon after we both became sick. My symptoms were similar to what use to be called a "Cold" and easily controlled by the systems in my pod. I have not heard about Dr Turkoss's, I need to determine if we both had the same disease and if it came from the mishandled sample. The Good: I have had offers of help in collecting samples myself. Mata Scry and James Arget helped guide me into a C3 that contains a shattered planet. Although I could not collect samples from that planet, the forces that flowed through the system, shattering it, may have left imprints on those samples I did collect. I got samples from three planets, six total. They may turn out to be the most interesting and informative samples I will obtain. Meriks Friggson has also offered to work with me in future expeditions into Anoikis. I hope to get up to 300 samples. I doubt I will be able to get them all myself, so I am appealing to the AJ community to collect some for me. After actually doing the task myself, I realized the cost is quite a bit more than I had thought. Thus I am increasing my offer to 150,000 isk per sample can. (One can per planet, could have 3 different samples in it). My original offer was based on the assumption that the samples were to be collected by those already having a planet harvesting op in place in Anoikis. The new one covers the cost to an explorer. If you wish to help, review the sample collection protocols here. Sample analysis is just starting. So far I have determined that many of the life forms do contain fragments of viral DNA, but I do not have sufficient samples to reconstruct a complete virus. |
