Summary

Courier contracts have a hard size limit of 120,000m3. This means large items (rigged battlecruisers/battleships for example) cannot fit into a courier contract. It also means that multiple courier contracts have to be made in order to ship a large quantity of items - even if all items fit inside one freighter. Large quantities of items also run into another problem: a courier contract cannot hold more than 100 items.

Solution

The CSM suggest raising the size limit. Various limits have been suggested, and while 981,250m3 is the biggest cargohold in the game, 756,000m3 may also be an option as it limits the size to that of the smallest freighter cargohold in the game (Fenrir with Freighter I).

Also raising the item limit would be desired. Ideally a courier contract would not be limited in how many items it can contain - though this may technically not be possible.

We realise that this issue was passed in CSM1 but so far nothing was changed for what seems like a reasonably simple change. This is why it is being brought up again.

Pros

  • Less hassle for courier contracts that involve a lot of items/very large items.

Cons

  • Depending on the new size limit, contracts may even be too big for certain freighters. But as with all contracts, Caveat Emptor.
