Summary

We learned at the round table meeting in Iceland that systems currently exist for Corporations to be in Alliances AND associate themselves with Faction Militias. This functionality is there in the code but is currently blocked while CCP assess the rollout of Faction Warfare and player involvement. I propose the block be removed and Corporations in Alliances be allowed to associate with Factional Militias as a matter of high priority.

I’ve personally observed Faction Warfare conflicts over the last several weeks and I’m convinced there is room for Alliance corps interested in faction warfare to enter the system without unbalancing or destroying the game experience for new players.

Further to this its important that CCP recognize that long-term roleplay alliances in Eve have an intense interest in the game background and political events represented in faction warfare and its consequences and they should be allowed to directly affiliate themselves with npc factions as a reward for their perseverance and dedication to the roleplay cause in this game.

In addition – fears of the role of Alliances unbalancing FW need to be counted by the recognition that current mechanics do not prevent potential imbalance since any Alliance can currently detach “foreign legion” corps full of its pvp roster to associate without let or hindrance. The current block on Alliance corps only truly affects RP alliances who really want to keep their alliance identity as well as involving themselves directly with Factional Warfare.

On the sub-issue of how to handle Corps from the same Alliance joining different Militias – the balance of opinion from the ISSUE thread is that ALL corps from the same alliance must join the same Militia. How this is accomplished is up to CCP, but in practice once ANY corporation from X alliance joins Y militia it’s the general opinion of respondents that all remaining X corps can only join Y militia. This will prevent the problem with corps from the same alliance now being at war with each other.

Potential Solutions

• Change the 5% of accounts to 5% to total amount of votes cast.
