General information
United Star Federation was founded in YC110.10.27. USF is a U.S. Based English speaking player run alliance with a decartelized governing structure operating mostly in low and null security space. Unlike the name suggests, USF is not a federation but instead operates as a confederation. Mostly a Player vs. Player (PvP) based alliance, USF maintains a strong industrial backbone which facilitates resupply and logistical support for the alliance. Unlike big alliances, USF believes that retention and fellowship is key to a more enjoyable experience in EVE Online. Because of this, USF goes to great lengths to build and maintain personal relationships among its players. Through the use of voice communications; out-of-game activities; and in-game activities, USF tries to maintain an ambiance of camaraderie, loyalty, and excellence.
Structure
United Star Federation operates under an article of confederation. Member corporations operate in tandem with other member corporation in order to deal with shared concerns including: foreign affairs, resources acquisition, and asset defense. Governed by the concept "The whole is only as strong as the weakest part" distribution of responsibility is dictated by the ability of each member corporation, and because of this no one entity holds sole ownership over alliance critical assets. USF tries to minimize restrictions to its pilots at all costs. Because of this, USF relies heavily on its CEO's to maintain their corporations. While the Executor maintains the overall day-to-day health of the alliance, it is the responsibility of each CEO to govern their corporation in a way that benefits both its membership and the alliance as a whole.
Combat
United Star Federation specializes in irregular warfare and guerrilla warfare tactics. While large fleet battles are within our cabilities, USF's combat style is centered around small fleet engagements. While it is true that some of USF's pod pilots extend our Not-Blue-Shoot-It (NBSI) policy outside alliance controlled space; USF's main combat efforts are geared toward maximizing fun, minimizing losses, expanding influence, and defending member corporation assets by any means necessary. Coupled with the fact that USF refuses to officially recognize the authority Concord, USF has been labeled as a pirate organization by the majority of New Eden.
Industry
As a PvP alliance, USF does not permit membership of industry only corporations. Because of this, USF's membership usually consist of well rounded and self sufficient corporations. Miners with pitchforks, USF industrialists are usually ready, willing and able to PvP if the need arises. While the alliance maintains a combat ready policy among its industrialists, we do not set PvP quotas like other alliances. Instead, industrialists are responsible for maintaining a steady resupply for our dedicated PvP players and increasing overall profits for their corporate employer. Because USF maintains a credo of minimizing restrictions on pod pilots, alliance industrialists are free to engage in any aspect of the game so long as they maintain a combat ready stance. USF member corporations are known for their self sufficiency and depth of game play. USF corporations have been seen in all areas of industry: capital production, research projects and multi-system mining operations which makes most USF industrialist more than satisfied at the depth of game play they are privy to within a PvP alliance.
History
In the Beginning
USF was founded as a pure democracy charged with the defense of the Intaki system in Placid Region. Its constitution was ratified at Intaki V - Moon 5 - Astral Mining Inc. Refinery by its original three founding corporations: Aktaeon Industries, Unified Naval Command, and Vulcan Foundry. Formed as an Anti-pirate Organization, USF adopted a Not-Red-Don't-Shoot (NRDS) policy.
