Northern Coalition. [NC] (aka NCDOT) was formed August 12th, 2010 by a holding corp of D00M. As a result of D00M, BURN EDEN, Rionnag Alba, and Spartan Industries being former members of the infamous Triumvirate alliance, NCDOT was often regarded as the spiritual successor to Triumvirate; the name change intended to mock their longtime foes the 'true' Northern Coalition.
Since their early days however, Northern Coalition. has obtained a large and diverse mix of new corporations, including ones that were formerly in the proper Northern Coalition, the GBC, and even Band of Brothers staple corporations Destructive Influence, Evolution, and FinFleet.
Origins
After the initial founding of the alliance, NCDOT was quick to pick up where Triumvirate had left off, preying upon weaker members of the actual Northern Coalition in the northwestern regions of EVE, even going as far as to seize some fringe space occupied by their members. However those ambitions were met with hard resistance early on as Goonswarm, following its eviction from Delve in the Dominion Offensive, had plans for Deklein themselves and, with the aid of tens of thousands of NC members to their own vast numbers, soon forced NCDOT from the North by late October.
Fortunes were not better in the next invasion, targeting nearby Fountain, as an IT Alliance at its peak wrought massive damage upon NCDOT with a capital fleet including 13 Titans in early November. While by no means finished, these defeats forced NCDOT to reconsider its goals and search for conquests elsewhere. It was decided to make an old wrong right in the South
The Providence War
In early December NCDOT, alongside Ev0ke (likewise displaced from the north), began a coordinated invasion of Providence, a region undergoing great upheaval at the time after its longtime custodians CVA were removed in the Providence War by the Southern Coalition and replaced by the New Providence NIP. After the effective dissolution of the Southern Coalition and onslaught occupying the NIP's patrons in the ongoing Catch War, the fledgling New Providence coalition was remorselessly mowed down by the battle-hardened, capital heavy NCDOT and Ev0ke armadas.
Taking the southern half of Providence for itself, NCDOT opened year 2011 by occupying itself with consolidating control of the region while stamping out an endless stream of small-scale CVA invasions, secure in their supercapital-based superiority. By March 2011, NCDOT had completely eliminated any resistance in the region and fully occupied Providence along with Ev0ke and Imperial Order. Over the next two months, NCDOT enjoyed a relatively calm and stable existence, however, interest in Providence as a region had begun to wane, partly because the rewards in holding it were diminished, but aslo because of word of conflict in the North as the Northern Coalition battled the Drone Russian Federation, with the mysterious DRF appearing to gain the upper hand.
Fall of the Northern Coalition
Eager to lend its considerable muscle towards delivering a deathblow to its hated namesake, NCDOT began full deployment in the North to fight alongside DRF forces in May 2011. The Northern Coalition at this point was a hollow shell of what it used to be, bloated with non-PvPers and inexperienced pilots. What few veterans and PvPers remained had obtained rust from going years without being engaged in a serious war. Furthermore, a schism developed between the Northern Coalition and Goonswarm, and half of the NC's traditional territories and a massive portion of their pilots now belonged to the fledgling Deklein Coalition, who offered little assistance to the Northern Coalition during the war. As the DRF war machine ground into gear, alliances from the Northern Coalition began to drop like flies, with BricK sQuAD losing almost all of their Geminate sovereignty in early May to Red Alliance and SOLAR FLEET. R.A.G.E. and Majesta Empire soon followed, with Raiden. and White Noise. wrestling control of the entire Vale of the Silent and Geminate regions from them by May 30th.
With their buffer territories gone, the DRF was poised to strike at the heart of the Northern Coalition's territories, sieging their core regions and bringing RAZOR's ancestral homeland of Tenal under the control of Raiden. At the start of June, the Northern Coalition sounded the official retreat, having taken extreme losses throughout the war, with multiple member alliances collapsing, their jump bridge network in shambles, no allies to turn to and their core regions becoming contested warzones. On June 14th 2011, sovereignty in roughly 20 systems in the Tribute region was released, with NCDOT eager to swoop in and claim the ancient helm of the Northern Coalition.
Back south, their holdings in Providence were willingly transferred over to CVA almost as an afterthought, freeing NCDOT up to seize 23 stations and 43 systems from the executive alliance of the Northern Coalition, Morsus Mihi. With the vast Technetium and logistical resources of Tribute at their disposal, NCDOT invested the majority of these profits into building and purchasing yet more supercapital ships, and as a result was rumored to possess among the most 'supercaps' out of any alliance in New Eden.
