-Bombs need a boost
In summary a number of issues have been raised regarding bombs in the thread below:
- Damage is too low.
- Damage is reduced considerably on any moving target as the explosion seems to have infinite velocity.
- Deploying bombs is too dangerous to allow any effective use.
- Cost is too high for bomb production
Potential Solutions
- Reduce Cost of Production
- Pro: Will allow cheaper field testing/deployment on live server
- Con: Does not address the original concerns regarding their usefulness
- Con: Cannot make them too cheap as it wil allow their use in missions/complexes
- Increase Damage of Bombs
- Pro: Marginal change
- Con: Explosion velocity issue may cause this change to have little effect.
- Change velocity fo explosion or damage calculations so bomb does full damage regardless of ship velocity
- Pro: This seems like it would make bombs operate as intended with respect to damage.
- Con: None apparent
- Increase Velocity/Range of bombs so that they may be deployed in a safer fashion
- Pro: Will allow bombs to be used in a non-suicide fashion.
- Con: None
- Allow bombs to explode regardless of pilot status (Cloaked, warped off, jumped)
- Pro: Will make deployment easier
- Con: None
- Increase ROF
- Pro: -
- Con: Could become overpowered if done in conjunction with other solutions
- Allow multiple launchers to be fitted
- Pro: Requires less ships to be used to produce the required DPS to take down hostile ships
- Con: Could become overpowered if done in conjunction with other solutions
- Allow use while cloaked
- Increase variety of bomb types
- Pro: -
