Summary

In a post from February 2009 CCP Chronotis informed the community that only 40% of mineral was actually coming from miners. This contribution was part of an emotional discussion about whether to remove meta 0 loot drops. The table Chronotis quoted can be seen in the below thread. Also, in his post he invited the community to keep the discussion on this topic active, as it was a point worth discussing, how much and by who the miner profession was adversely influenced, and to which extent that was tolerable.

Since then, time as passed and we had Wormholes, Unholy rage, the Veldspar buff and the 0.0 upgrades. What is more, the old table was already contaminated by T2 items, so it was not fully suited for discussion about meta 0 loot.

This motion asks CCP and, more precisely, the statstics team around Dr. Eyjo, to provide an up-to-date and "sanitized" table, which can be used as a good number basis for further discussion among the community. It is up to CCP in which way they will condition such a table and how much information in which form they deem suited for disclosure. Still, with discussion about and tests of a removal of the fixed price ship insurances, the community needs a better information foundation.

Pros

  • community discussion process will have current data. The discussion might still be controversial, but at least the starting point will be well defined.

Cons

  • unsure : probably some speculation will be possible on the feasibility of large scale exploits
