MMO
Definition
MMO is an abbreviation for Massively Multiplayer Online game. Commonly a sufix, such as RPG or FPS, is added to this abbreviation to further specify the game genre.
The definition of Massively Online Multiplayer games differs vastly, but basically means a game where a large number of player interact together to some extent. First Person Shooter games have been described as MMO through their use of lobbies and accumulative points and statistics. MMORPGs usually place all the players on servers together, usually sharded so only a few thousand players are available to the user. Eve Online is unique in this circumstance as it has a single shard for most of the world, Tranquility, where hundreds of thousands of players are capable of interaction.
