0.0 space, sometimes refered to as null-sec, are lawless regions outside of CONCORD control. Attacking other players in this area will elicit no CONCORD response , and there are no gate guns to fire upon aggressors. Thus, there is no protection offered to pilots beyond any any allies traveling with them. Due to this lack of protection, 0.0 is highly dangerous to pilots young and old, and it is advised that pilots unaccustomed to combat steer clear or travel in groups.

Despite all systems in this area being labeled as having a security rating of 0.0, the true ratings for the systems range from 0.0 to -1.0. Just as in Empire Space, lower security rating systems have more valuable ores and more dangerous pirates.

0.0 sovereignty is partially held by NPC alliances, but many areas are unaligned and player alliances may hold sovereignty.

System Sovereignty

General Information

Holding system sovereignty, also known as 'Sov', can unlock different bonuses. There are 4 levels of sovereignty, each gained by holding sovereignty for certain periods of time. Sovereignty is held by alliances and not individual corporations. To gain sovereignty, you must anchor a POS in a system and select the POS option to capture sovereignty for your alliance. If more than one alliance anchor POS's in a system, sovereignty will be given to the alliance with the higher number of larger POS's. For example, if one alliance anchors a small and a medium sized POS and another anchors a large POS, sovereignty will be given to the alliance with the large POS because of the size. Large POS's will outweigh any number of small and medium sizes.
