There's a bit of an inconsistency with Burning Scanners and Jump Clones. It seems that deactivated clones are left at the stations where you are when you jump from one clone to the other. Later you can go back jump into these clones again even if the station has no medical or cloning facility. Yet, the description of the burning scanner indicates that it (and each earlier model) turns the subject's brain into goo. Clearly, the Jump Clone process doesn't use a destructive scan like this. I'd love to see an article which describes the non-destructive scanning technique and the associated laws which prevent me from making billions of copies of myself with which to rule the galaxy. Thanks :)

Jump clones use a different process than the transneural burning scanner to transfer consciousness, as there is no imminent risk of death involved. This process doesn't damage the brain. An article on jump clones may one day be created that explains that, though it's a very technical article so it's something that would take a while to produce (believably).--ISD Caleb Kang 17
