Deklein Coalition (Player coalition)
The Deklein Coalition was an offshoot of the Northern Coalition based in the region of the same name, and could be considered an intermediary phase between the Northern Coalition of old and the Clusterfuck Coalition of the present.
Created when longtime NC members Tau Ceti Federation entered their senescence and were no longer interested in holding 0.0 space, they invited their longtime allies Goonswarm Federation to inherit their space - Goons having recently lost Delve and Querious to the combination of their CEO kartoon's treachery and a huge capitalization upon said treachery by IT Alliance.
Due to the political structure of the Northern Coalition, when TCF ceded their territory to Goonswarm, Goonswarm not only became a 'full member' of the NC, but also gained stewardship of TCF's "guest alliances"; Northern Coalition "full members" had autonomy over their systems and had the right of allotting their systems to "guest alliances" under terms of their choosing. The three TCF guest alliances within Deklein, who would now fostered by Goonswarm, Tactical Narcotics Team, Black Core Alliance and OWN Alliance, reacted each in their own way to this changing of the guard. Black Core Alliance openly rebelled against the new arrangement, rejecting the 'full member/guest' system and claiming right of autonomy by way of seniority; they were removed by force. OWN Alliance was cowed into obedience, albeit with great resentment that would lead to their eviction later. Only TNT willingly adjusted itself to the new order, and it is because of that reason that they are the only TCF guest that survived to become a member of the Clusterfuck Coalition.
These reactions to Goonswarm's induction into the Northern Coalition were not isolated to TCF's guest alliances. The two internal cultures within most of the greater Northern Coalition and the Goons were deeply incompatible, regardless of strategic interests and common enemies. This fundamental dissonance was common not only between the rank and file pilots but also between alliance executors. The agreed upon solution to this internal friction by Morsus Mihi executor and NC Chairman Vuk Lau and Goonswarm executor The Mittani was a subdividing of the Northern Coalition to now include the Deklein Coalition. The Deklein Coalition would still be within the Northern Coalition's myriad and extensive web of blue standings, but it would be administrated by the Goonswarm directorate along the traditional Goon-led coalition precepts of beneficent dictatorship, communal welfare and well-defined hierarchy (as opposed to the traditional NC, which would be better defined as democratic, reactive and consensus based). This use of the term 'coalition' to define an administrative relation and not a military one was a new concept, and one that was a cause of much derision and skepticism from outside observers of the situation.
Determined to grow in strength, Goonswarm began bringing in more alliances into the Deklein Coalition orbit, swelling their numbers by first taking in the new but numerous pilots of Test Alliance Please Ignore and then Fatal Ascension and Fidelas Constans who were evicted in the Providence War, then swarming upon Ev0ke to make room for their expanding coalition in Cloud Ring, then pushing forward to Fountain to create a new home for quickly growing TEST at the expense of IT Allliance.
Matters between this schizoid NC came to a head when the Northern Coalition began to lose the eastern war against the Drone Russian Federation, the combined supercap armada of White Noise., Pandemic Legion, Raiden., Legion of xXDeathXx and SOLAR FLEET surfing west from the Drone Regions on a sea of shattered NC hulls, victims of Imperium's folly. What happened next is a matter for debate, with strong opinions on either side - that when the DRF began sieging the 'core' NC regions and the call was made for all members of the Northern Coalition to make a stand, that the members of the Deklein Coalition held back. Deklein veterans scoff at the claim and state that they fought hard for the rest of the NC's holdings, harder then most of the people actually losing their space fought and that there were limits to how far they would go to defend alliances that wouldn't defend themselves. "Old NC" veterans disagree bitterly with this assessment, that it was they who took in Goonswarm when they had no place else to go, gave them a home to rebuild, and were repaid first with derision, then with treachery; that in the NC's darkest hour, the 'Deklein Coalition' portion of their membership held back and let the DRF conquer their space (either out of contempt or avarice) - the refugees were faced with the choice of joining the new Clusterfuck Coalition under Goon hegemony and values, or go their own way. However, with RAZOR and Vuk Lau eventually reconciling and joining the CFC, the latter claims have died down as time went on.
