[hide]Project Codebreaker
Project Codebreaker is a minor project within the greater Arek'Jaalan collective scientific endeavour. It is of primary interest to persons studying artifacts belonging to the ancient starfaring cutlures.
Introduction:
There are several ancient starfaring cultures within New Eden, some of which have left artifacts that have applications within current capsuleer technologies. Understanding of these artifacts is however, very low, and many of the original functions of the devices can only be speculated at. This project seeks to increase understanding of these artifacts and devices.
Aims:
To increase understanding of the ancient devices. To identify more applications where the devices could be used. To look for similarities between cultures.
Existing Knowledge:
Several ancient culture devices are utilised in existing experimental modules, such as the "Greaves" medium armour repairer module, that uses Takmahl devices in its construction. Blueprints of these devices exist, and can be examined.
Methodology:
Examples of the ancient culture influenced technologies are constructed, and their performance assessed. The materials used to construct them are examined, in an attempt to understand how the devices and materials function.
Data analysis:
A spreadsheet of the materials used and the performance of the modules can be constructed, patterns may be observed that can then be used to determine some of the functions of the ancient devices.
Time frame:
Several days to construct the relevant devices and assess their performance against known technologies.
Resource and Personnel requirements:
Blueprints and artifacts belonging to all of the relevant ancient cultures. Personnel capable of building and analysing performance of the devices.
Section One: Takmahl
Introduction
The Takmahl were a culture resident in Araz constellation, having been formed from exiles from the Amarr Empire. Project Theseus explored the Takmahl sites and retrieved several artifacts.
Data Collected
Preliminary assessments of the Takmahl related devices were as follows:
Armour Plates - add as much mass as plain Tech1, but use less cpu and power than any other. They are equivalent to t2 plates in how much reinforcement to the armour they give.
Armour Repairers - repair as much as t2, but use a lot less cpu and power.
Capacitor Batteries - increased energy storage, less cpu use, less power use than any other
Energy Transfer arrays - same performance as T2, uses a LOT more cap. uses less cpu, less power
Capacitor boosters - generally no better than t1 variants
Reactor control - same power increase as t2, less CPU use
Capacitor relay - better than t2 cap recharge, less cpu use.
Capacitor flux coil - less cpu use, recharge same as t2
Observations
An interesting result so far, has been in the Energy Transfer arrays, which show that the Takmahl technologies are rather inefficient in that application, and the capacitor boosters, where there is little or no performance increase over tech1 devices. In general, the Takmahl-derived devices appear to use less of the ships power and computing resources than standard modules, and offer performance that is broadly similar to tech2 devices.
Results
A spreadsheet found here containing the materials used has been made, and several things become apparent.
Analysis
The pattern of use of the Takmahl artifacts appears to show: The Phrenic Appendix artifact is common to all the armour systems, with more being used in the larger modules The Fractal Sheets are heavily used in energy systems modules, particularly capacitor batteries, relays and flux coils. The Astral Treatment is only used in the more complex modules, particularly armour systems. The Binary Texts are only used in the simplest armour systems.
Discussion
The Takmahl artifacts continue to intrigue, and yet more answers may be obtained from them.
Section Two: Talocan
Introduction
The Talocan were resident in Okkelen constellation. Artifacts may be found there.
Section Three: Sleeper
Introduction
The Sleeper were at one point resident in Ani constellation, where some artifacts may be located.
Section Four: Yan Jung
Introduction
The Yan Jung were to be found in Algintal constellation.
