Arek'Jaalan Mailing List W4: 'buying' friends

Content	Due to recent events I would like to make a proposal. As demonstrated by Authochthonian, we will have a need to work together with several factions, not in the least bit with concord and its DED division. Many empires as well as concord are no doubt skittish as to the goals and intentions of the Arek'Jalaan initiative. Dr. Tukoss' leaving of Caldari space and joining Elyfr co. has also resulted in some negative regards of several Caldari corporations. Then there is the widely debated construction of an [Aurora Ominae] superweapon in highsec, that although currently unusable on anything other than a Erebus class titan, could very well be in some way fitted on a battleship built specifically for such a purpose (a bit of an ungrounded fear, but a fear nonetheless). This fear is likely a result of the super weapon used by, now empress, Sarum. Since we first and foremost want good relations with concord, we might assist in the long overdue repaire of their HQ in Yulai, this gesture of good faith will no doubt get us a lot of 'credit' with concord for whatever plans we might have. In this way we would get more info from them, and get away with more experiments of a dubious nature (read: things like trying to bring a sleeper drone to highsec for study, capturing and experimenting with rogue drones). This of course is only speculative so far, but I feel it's something we should consider and not dismiss out of hand. Getting on the good side of the empires is also a good idea, but I do not have too many ideas of how to accomplish this perhaps some of you might. One idea I had was to ease the Gallente-Caldari tensions by trying to resolve the Caldari prime leviatan incident. (I know the Caldari military has long been wanting to pull out its forces of Gallente space due to it being such a nightmare logistics wise). If we could somehow broker a truce in which the Caldari would keep Caldari prime, and in which the Gallente would see the Caldari navy depart it's space I think both sides would be more relaxed and indebted to the AJ project. (due to the sensitive political nature of this last suggestion, i would STRESS this is a suggestion) Don't disregard the value of public support for an undertaking such as this, the [Crielere] Project was born and died because of it. Content	I am sure something along these lines would help smooth out any ruffled feathers and strenghten relations as well as public opinion. Of course considering the nature of an undertaking of this magnitude it would require a large amount of support from members within the project to accomplish these goals. -Tykari

Content	"For the final time, speculation like this has no basis. Quite seriously, quit it." So am I to assume it is the policy of A'J to deny attrocities comitted by the Amarr Empress? She did in fact use a "super weapon" mounted on a sub-capital ship. This is neither speculation or rumor, but a fact. Is the very nature of this project not to "speculate" about wormholes, sleepers and each others scientific findings about such things? I find it quite disheartening when one member simply "shouts down" another member for stating known facts and then drawing thier own conclusions. If thats not what we are here to do then I am at a loss as to the nature of the Project. The very idea that the superweapon must be built to be studdied is ridiculous. I am of the opinion that A'J is quite possibly a front for a Capsuleer alliance that simply wants someone else to build them a Doomsday device. If this is not the case then prove me wrong and conduct a study of the weapons schematics before initiating construction plans.

Content	Indeed, Empress Sarum was recorded as using a sub-capital mounted superweapon of unknown (rumored Terran) origins to utterly devastate the Elder fleet at the battle of Mekhios. I am, however, of the opinion that in order to fully understand how a Sleeper-based object works, it is necessary to construct it. For example, take our strategic Tech 3 cruisers; though we know how to build them and can acquire blueprints, the underlying nuances and finer points of the fullerene-based technology escape us. If the Aurora Ominae weapon is in fact based on Sleeper tech (which I have never heard of, can someone please clarify where it is stated that the weapon utilizes ancient technology?), it is highly likely that we will not be able to determine exacly how it works from simply studying the blueprints.

Content	I have seen firsthand the evidence of Sarum's fabled weapon, both at Mekhios (Sarum Prime) and at T-IPZB, as has Mark726, Both sites have trace amounts of a rare isotope of Isogen, which I suspect is the fuel or charge used by that weapon. The Aurora Ominae, to my knowledge, does not require this isotope, and again I am unaware that there is any available store of this Isogen isotope anywhere accessible to the common capsuleer. Further, both Mekhios and T-IPZB occurred prior to the Seyllin Incident, and thus while possible, it is unlikely that Sarum's weapon was based on Sleeper technology. It is however possible that the Oxygen Isotopes required for the Aurora Ominae's discharge somehow ionize or catalyze the Isogen in the weapon itself, although that would seem to have the effect of gradually corroding the weapon, which I find unlikely. I have specifically requested that the Macaper team pay close attention to the effects of the Isogen incorporated in the device and its reaction to their experiments. My baseline hypothesis is that while similar, the Aurora Ominae and Sarum's weapon are different technologies. Content	f I recall correctly, the Aurora Ominae is based on antimtter-matter annihilations, specifically the high amount of heat energy such annihilations release. This woud suggest that isogen isotopes have little to do with the actual operation of the weapon.

Content	This is correct, the destructive power behind the weapon is based on unleashing a torrent of anti-matter that upon impact with pretty much anything is designed to cause a failure cascade in the target entity. The only real defense against it is to be big enough or have defenses strong enough to isolate such things before they tear your ship apart entirely. It has pretty much nothing to do with isogen or its variants when it comes to the power source behind it. As for what Sarum did...  I don't think this is anywhere near as powerful.

Content	The purpose of the original mail was to promote the arek'jaalan project to both the public and the empires and powerful institutions. Super weapon discussion has already been widely debated in a totally different set of mails, and I would encourage everyone who wishes to continue the debate to do so there. (if all you plenned to do here was discuss superweapons you can stop reading here) The Arek'jaalan project is likely the most important event to occur in [New Eden] since the opening of the wormholes, and certainly the most important scientific event since the crielere project. We as a community have a chance here to shape the universe, hopefully for the better. Who knows the discoveries we make could lead to better farming techniques, helping millions of people who live in poverty to get food, or maybe we discover ways for starships to consume less fuel. The possibilities of the discoveries we might make are endless. And let’s face it for us capsuleers the chances of designing improved starships are much better with this project than any up until now, so it’s not just for the benefit of all mankind but also ours. All that i hope for is that we don't screw it up, as we have so many times. We capsuleers tend too often to forget that we were once regular humans before our ascent to near godhood. SO what is our goal here? Did we all join the AJ project out of a desire for personal gain? or did we join to serve the greater good, and better the lives of all humans regardless of nationality, creed, or faith? I for one did join because I wanted to make a change for the better. Promoting the AJ project trough humanitarian efforts is a great way to get public support, perhaps even funding. (yes billions of humans who all contribute 0.1 isk can give you a billion of isk, something we capsuleers too often forget). But we need to be seen as benign, something that currently is far from the case. Zainou wants us dead, the public fears us, and concord is unsure what to make of us, to name but a few. (not assumptions dear Myxx). I firmly believe that getting the public and powerful institutions on our side can grant us more freedom in the pursuit of knowledge, and perhaps even result in a better cooperation between everyone involved. I am not saying no one in here can’t have alterior motives, just make sure you don’t endanger this project, and the benefits it might provide. There are enough enemies out there as it is. Eliniale
