What I'm doing

Now working on improving the UI related pages. -Fridge Chesthair 21:10, 21 June 2010 (UTC)

After discovering that an ISD contractor was working on the UI related pages as well, I've decided to move on to a Manual of Style for the website. Fridge Chesthair 04:30, 7 August 2010 (UTC)

MOS is coming along. I'm looking for feedback on colors and recommended guidelines for pictures, templates, and tables. If anyone can provide an example of a really well formatted page, just leave me a link and I will check it out. Also, if you have a comment or question here. Re: Regarding Portal:NPC Faction Types

PV-

I have read your comment on the Talk:Portal:NPC_Faction_Types page. I read it before I posted on your personal talk page. I understand that the page was created by CCP Ginger. Before I made a single edit to the page, the last edit was made 00:13, August 5, 2009 by Contributor_name:Beani_Kliadi. It has been on the website for well over a year and a half now, and I thought the page could use an update to better present its relevant information.

My initial intent with the page was to adjust the layout to improve readability. Four vertical columns of 96x96px images that link to the image page rather than the subject of the image weren't very useful.

I first reorganized the columns of images into rows of smaller images under corresponding headings. Due to problems with image formatting, tables, and the default CSS scripts of the website, I was unable to format the images and corresponding text in a manner that both provided readability as well as useful information. As a trade-off, I decided to enlarge the pictures slightly and include a short description of each type. After discovering that the pictures left a large amount of empty space, I decided to include the short faction descriptions next to the Faction image.

Despite not intending it to be that way, the end result was a page that was a variation on the original Portal:NPC_Factions page sorted by faction type with a small description of the type. As far as linking back to the main page, I completely didn't realize that the link was remove. I apologize for the loss, and would have added the link back in with little effort had I known.

While making all of these changes, I noticed that the faction information excluded possible entries for the four ancient civilizations. While they are not officially recognized within the core mechanics of EVE, these four civilizations and their place within the EVE universe would probably be a useful addition to the page. I planned to add entries for all four to the remaining two Faction portals, however without official descriptions from the CCP content developers, I waited to continue editing the main Portal:NPC_Factions page.

In conclusion, I've noticed a few things. CCP Ginger's original page appears to be a quick reference for identifying which factions are what type of entity. However, as this page is a Portal with a capital P (see: [1] ), I understood the page's purpose to be a starting page for examining the larger content of the website. To this extent, I did increase the amount of content on the page to the point that it no longer served as a quick reference.

My questions to you are, then: Named as it is, should this page act as more than a quick reference? Would a different piece of web content (image, template, or table) provide the same service in a more usable and manageable package?

If you would like to continue to discuss this, I will be happy to answer your questions.

Sorry for the late answer, but I have currenttly some problem with my Geforce GT 430 and Windows 7:(...

To the Question:

I would like to see quick reference.... in order to have the spiderweb feeling.... even for the NPC Portal.... because I have add always this upperline to the NPC Pages....
NPC Factions > Khanid Kingdom > [Khanid Innovation LP Store

I know the current status of the three portals are really messy, but I haven´t the time lately.... ehm... I will try to finish first the Ammatar Mandte LP-Store... and do some rework to my current lp store like the row wight and change the pic to transparent etc (because I don´t like the look an Chrome, on firefox it looks good but chrome is a differnt story:( ... and change the Ammatar Mandate and Khanid Kingdom so I think... I will maybew try in a months or two to come with something.... but currently I would maybe change the Page so... that it use Color:#222 and maybe differnt charts.... so maybe like the currnet version but more in order etc.... and like you say.... maybe a short discribtion what a goverment or Faction or Cartel is.... but I would say on the bottom (but no deeper infos, i would say just quck refernces).... maybe like the Privy Council CCP Ginger page... i mean the chart on it...

But like I say.. maybe I have a quick idear....
