- Alt
- Alternate character on a player's account or an alternate character that a player uses on another account. Alts are typically not as exhaustively trained as the "main" character unless on a different account. Can also refer to every character owned by a player, except the one generally associated with them.
- BH
- Bug Hunter. See also "ECAID".
- CCP
- Crowd Control Productions (AKA your friendly overlords, the creators of EVE Online).
- CSM
- Council of Stellar Management
- ECAID
- Equipment Certification and Anomaly Investigations Division (Bug Hunters), part of ISD.
- FTW
- "For the Win". Generally used to denote a successful attempt or something good happening.
- GM
- Gamemasters are CCP staff responsible for providing customer support for EVE Online, as well as enforcing the EULA and Terms of Service of EVE Online. They can be reached through the in-game petition system.
- Griefer
- A griefer is a player who plays in order to irritate and harass other players, rather than in pursuit of game objectives.
- GTC
- Game Time Code, also referred to as an ETC or EVE Time Code.
- HC
- Help Channel

- ISD
- Interstellar Services Department
- ISK
- InterStellar Kredits, EVE's premier currency.
- Main
- Main character on a player's account which typically receives the most training as compared to an "alt". Can also refer to the character generally associated with a player for those players that own more than one account.
- OOC
- Out Of Character. A roleplayer may say "OOC: I'm bored" to mean "In real life I'm bored but I'm not speaking for whether my character is or not". See also "IC" (In Character).
- OOG
- Out Of Game.
- Pew Pew
- Refers to the act of PvP.
- PLEX
- 30-Day Pilot's License Extension cards can be purchased on the market to extend account play time. These are usually GTCs purchased by a player using OOG currency and then put into the game for sale to others for IG currency.
- Prod

- Player vs EVE or Player vs Environment. This generally refers to combat vs rats and mission-running. See also "carebear".
- PvP
- Player vs player. Usually used in reference to combat but can also apply to the economic and political fields as well (eg, outbidding in markets, trying to play corporations off against each other to one's advantage, etc).
- RL
- Real Life.
- SiSi
- The Singularity test server, a public test server open to those with active EVE Online accounts.
- SP
- Skill Points
- STAR
- Support Training and Resources - (Player Support), part of ISD.
- Soon
- This is CCP's motto for upcoming changes to EVE. Usage: "When is xy change coming?" Answer: "Soon." Originally used to poke fun at features long promised but not delivered, but since adopted by the developers to describe upcoming content without a specific release date.
- TQ
- The Tranquility server, the main EVE server.
- TS2
- Teamspeak version 2.0, an older version of the Teamspeak out of game communications programs used for live voice chat.
- TS3
- Teamspeak version 3.0, the most current version of the Teamspeak out of game communications program used for live voice chat.
- Venti
- Ventrilo, an out of game communications programs used for live voice chat.
- YARR
- Yulai Archives and Records Repository, part of ISD. Moderates the EVElopedia.
