Mineral

Minerals are used in the construction of most items found in eve, either directly, or via components that themselves are made of these minerals.

Minerals are the direct products of refining ore. Minerals can also be obtained from reprocessing (as Scrap Metal) items. Rarely, minerals can be found as loot in some NPC wrecks or complexes.

Mineral types

There are 8 varieties of mineral in EVE:Tritanium, Pyerite, Mexallon, Isogen, Nocxium, Zydrine, Megacyte, and Morphite.

All Tech 1 ships and equipment are comprised of the first seven minerals. Their market prices are generally determined by their scarcity and the quantities needed to construct popular ships and equipment, but in general, Tritanium is the cheapest and most abundant, and Megacyte the most expensive and rare.

Tech 2 ships and equipment also require Morphite, an extremely rare and valuable eighth mineral type, along with a number of special components. It requires Deep Core Mining techniques to extract the ore (Mercoxit) that is refined into Morphite.

There are several other types of primary materials:

• Ice, which is harvested from asteroids in ice fields
• Gas harvested from gas clouds
• Moon Mining produces various Gases and Metals
