Talk:Khanid King
The King of the Khanid Kingdom — or somethimes call Khanid King in reference on the Amarr Emperor/Empress— is the sovereign of the independent Khanid Kingdom. The King is also the head of the Khanid Family. These two positions which a king holds can hardly be separated from each other and really go hand in hand. Even when the kingdom is rather young — in amarrian point of view, it can be assumed that the head of the Family is the king. Therefore isn't necessary to split this two position and the history of the kindom shows this, the king rules over his territory like a imperial Heir.[1].
Heredity
On the subject heredity is the kingdom is most likely to compare with the royal Houses inside the Amarr Empire. This means, that all titles are hereditary, passing from one head to his designated heir. In most circumstances, the heir is one of the king's children. Occasionally, if a King will die without offspring; in this case, the title may pass to a sibling, cousin, or even a spouse. Very rarely, a King will die without any relatives. In these cases, the title may be passed to another noble who has been named heir.[2] But since Khanid II is the first king of the new kingdom plus that he remains still in good health despite his advancing age, makes this topic more theoretical and not a current problem; so no royal heir has been named.[3]
Current Structure Layout
The Khanid Kingdom in many ways resembles the Amarr Empire. The caste system is intact - the Holders still reign as the social elite. The governmental structure and administration are all but identical, the only difference being the lack of checks-and-balances that many entrenched institutions and local barons exercise within the empire. Just as for the Amarr Emperor Khanid II is in name undisputed ruler of his realm, but in practice a number of powerful magnates share or dilute the power. In the empire’s case it’s the Heirs that compete with the Emperor for power, in the kingdom’s case it’s the members of the minor families that supported Khanid during his rift with the empire. Other features, such as the importance of religion and slavery, are also very much alike in the two states.[1]
The one difference between the two states is the relative power of the Kingdom Holders. While in the Empire, all Holders are subservient to an Heir, in the Kingdom they must answer solely to the King. Khanid II has proven to be a somewhat hands-off ruler, allowing his Holders to rule in what manner they see fit.[4]
In general can be said, like for most territories under Amarr control, that it has a more extensive pyramid of leadership[5]; in the kingdom this complexity comes from two ways: First, that it still upholds many of the tradition of Amarr society, and traditions that have grown during the family domain pre 23041 AD. Second, it has also wholeheartedly embraced the customs of the Caldari. Many visitors to the Kingdom feel like it is a surreal mix of the Amarr and Caldari empires.[6] The firm pillar of the goverment are the RKN — Royal Khanid Navy — and the bureaucratic apparatus this two pillars are framing the civil society. On top of the two pillars rests the royal family and the cabinet.
