Mobile Warp Disruptors

A Mobile Warp Disruptor is a type of warp disruption field; a bubble-like object that prevents warping within a certain radius Strategic Cruisers (aka Tech 3 cruisers) with the Interdiction Nullifier Propulsion subsystem are immune to the effects generated by non-targeted (bubbles) warp disruption fields.

A secondary function of the Mobile Warp Disruptor is its ability to 'drag' ships out of warp and onto the edge of the 'bubble'. If you warp to a point within 100km of a disruption field your ship may be pulled to its edge. The warp disruption field must be placed along your ship's warp vector for this to work. In other words, should you draw a straight line from the location your ship exited warp in the direction which your ship is headed in, and should this line intersect the bubble at any point, then your ship will be pulled to that point on the edge of the warp disruption field.

How do I deploy and use Mobile Warp Disruptors?

To deploy disruptor fields you'll need both the Anchoring and the Propulsion Jamming skills. Also, you can only place them in 0.0 space systems.

Place a disruptor into your ship's cargo hold and fly to where you want to deploy the field. Open your cargo hold and right click the item. You'll get the option to deploy the disruptor for your corp or for you personally. If you deploy it for your corporation, members of your corporation will be able to both anchor and unanchor the warp disruption field, but if you deploy it for yourself only you will control it. Once in space, the disruptor will begin emitting a field. Within this field, no ships, including the owner, can warp. Note that if the disruption field is not anchored, it will time out and vanish, so you should definitely anchor it. This will take some time depending on your skill levels and the type of the disruptor.

How do I escape from the grasp of a Mobile Warp Disruptor?

At the moment there are two ways to escape if you are inside the warp disruptor's range: Destroy the disruptor or fly out of its range.

  • Microwarpdrives function normally inside of a warp disruption field. (MWDs are not affected by warp disruption fields.)
  • Normal warp core stabilizers do not work against disruptors. As such warp disruption fields attract all incoming vessels arriving at around 0-100km into the disruption bubble, your ship should be safe as long as the distance exceeds this limit. Furthermore, the warp disruption field must be aligned with the ship warp-out tunnel vector to trap its prey. This means a canny pilot can avoid being pulled in by warping to the area from a different angle.

Anchoring a warp disruptor is not considered an act of aggression. Gates will consider it an act of aggression if you have a ship scrambled in the bubble, who is trying to warp.
