From E&B to EVE
AWE (Ascendant Warrior Elite) Corporation began life in Earth & Beyond in 2003. The original Oldma/Oldmanlkc and Dibrle/Cobray (RL brothers), Blue Max (a long time friend) and a relative of Dibrle's, Daddiodeath, broke away from the Knights of The Black Rose on Pegasus to form AWE. When E&B was discontinued, they traveled across the void of space to EVE and formed AWE Corporation on March 27, 2004, just 7 days after arriving in the EVE Universe. They also kept a presence in E&B until the very last day, with Daddiodeath becoming one of the premier builders in the game.
The CDSV & XETIC Days
After spending a few months in Empire, the principals of AWE decided that the future of EVE, at least for them, was in lawless, 0.0 space. Knowing nothing about the area or the alliances involved, several probes were sent into 0.0 and, of course, destroyed. As those who know us realize, we do not give up easily. A few eventually made it to the Omist area.
Feelers were also sent out via various forums to various 0.0 corporations and alliances. Caldari Deep Space Ventures (CDSV), a member of the XETIC Federation, was recruiting and, although AWE was too small to be accepted into the Alliance, Oldma, Dibrle, and Blue Max, joined CDSV on July 10, 2004 to get to 0.0, with Oldma at one point becoming CEO of CDSV. AWECO was kept alive in Empire with an alt. while the AWE-CDSV crew moved to Omist, which was almost deserted. Later, we moved to Impass where we made many contacts.
For those new to EVE, back then there were NO OUTPOSTS and each 0.0 Region had 3 stations, which were about 13 jumps away from each other. 1 station was a refinery, 1 was a factory, and the other was a cloning station. You generally mined near a factory. Then you had to haul the raw ore in an industrial (no freighters) 13 jumps without "jump to 0" (jumps were 15K from a gate unless you bookmarked them) to the refinery, refine it, and then haul the refined minerals another 13 jumps to the factory. Only after all of that could you begin to build, unless, of course, you were ambushed.
The Birth of ASCN & Hurricane Katrina
When The Ascendant Frontier (ASCN) was born out of the ruins of the XETIC Federation, the senior members of AWE, who had already spent months living in and defending Impass, one of the two regions ASCN claimed, the other being Feythabolis, rejoined their original AWE Corporation on May 5, 2005 and sought membership in the new alliance to stay in their 0.0 home. Although AWE's 18 members did not meet the ASCN requirement for 100+ member corporations, because of its history and strength, it was one of the first corporations fully admitted into ASCN.
Although AWE had big plans, unfortunately, a few months later on August 29, 2005, Hurricane Katrina hit and crippled New Orleans-based AWE, effectively keeping its members offline for almost 4 months. It was a struggle just to get online during that time and for months later as homes, offices and real life careers had to be rebuilt.
AWE in ASCN and Research Associates [RESA] in Empire
With 2006, came the establishment of a sister Empire recruiting corporation (Research Associates [RESA]), new goals, and the return of high speed Internet service to all AWE members! RESA was the recruitment arm of AWE and, in November of 2006 a Blue Max alternate established Intrepid Crossing [IRC] to assist in defending against certain Empire War Declarations against RESA.
With the aid of RESA's recruitment efforts, AWE expanded, participated in the ASCN v. G/IRON war, and moved from Impass to Feythabolis when ASCN split into ASCN & AXE. Dragon's Rage [D-R] already had a refinery in ZS- and on August 8, 2006, AWE established an Amarr Factory Outpost in DB1R-4! With virtually all AWE members online at once, and the help of over a dozen D-R pilots, AWE set up the Outpost in record time: 1 hour and 15 minutes from deployment of Egg to hitting the Build switch. This was BEFORE freighters were introduced into Eve, so all hauling had to be done by non-rigged industrials. AWEsome teamwork!
BoB war and transfer to IRC
After ASCN lost to BoB in the Pendulum War, AWE and D-R joined IRC. See the IRC page for current information.
