BIG runs a number of public businesses.
The BIG Lottery is probably the most famous - Which, among other things, holds the title of longest running player run event.
The very first The BIG Lottery round was in fact held in beta (Monday, April 14th, 2003 to Sunday, April 28th, 2003).
The first release round ran from Monday, May 12th, 2003 to Sunday, May 25th, 2003, and has been running non-stop ever since.

The BIG Deal is a battleship BPO share program, and was started back in 2003, as a way for fledgling producers to get started with battleship production, without having to pay the full price of the battleship BPO's.
Instead it's possible to buy (any number of) 1/10th shares of any given battelship BPO, if nothing else to "try the waters", before going all out.
The BIG Deal is running to this day, but is less activly used, as ISK has become easier to come buy than back in the days.

The BIG Merchant Bank of EVE was the first bank in EVE, started 2006.02
BMBE is specializing in large ISK loans, and is not a deposit bank (hence the "Merchant" moniker)
