| − | Jiny was born on one of the colonies near the edge of the Republic, possibly in the Hroduko or Frulegur system. It is unknown what became of her parents, other then that she was orphaned at an early age. Being from a border system, it is difficult to say whether they were victims of a pirate raid, taken by slavers, or simply vanished, as so many do, to escape debt or other burdens. What is known, however, is that Jiny spent much of her childhood either on the streets or in underfunded government care facilities.

| − | As soon as she was able, Jiny began searching for a job that would take her off world. She first managed to score a 1-way ticket on a freighter as a cook's assistant , which took her as far as the Kaalakiota Corporation Factory in Frulegur. There she talked her way into a job at the loading dock, handling incoming freight from capsulers. She heard stories from their crews about the rest of the Republic, and other parts of New Eden, but could not get a job on any of the hundreds of ships that passed her by.

| − | Her luck finally changed however, when a mining barge arrived to offload ore on day. The pilot, Boses, came down to the docks in order to inspect recent damage to the ship. Jiny saw her chance to meet an actual pod pilot, and, after nearly being shot by Boses' security detail, managed to talk her way into a job as a loader.

| − | The work was tough, and the hours were long, but Jiny proved herself time and again, despite her short stature and somewhat frail appearance. Boses took note of her strong will and ability to quickly adapt and overcome challenges. Eventually, he decided to offer her the chance of a life-time, become a capsule pilot, so long as she agreed to repay the tuition, and respond to any of Boses' calls for assistance in the future.
