The Creation
Statecorp was founded in 2004 by forumites from the now defunct State games forum/website/whine generator thanks largely to the positive response to a PC Gamer UK article called "All About EVE" by journalist, author and all round philanthropist Jim Rossignol.
The Next Bit
Statecorps' formative months were spent in the Great Wildlands region, where we've returned many times, fighting as part of the original Foundation group against the evil Keiretsu alliance.
The Statecorp Curse
Every alliance we join falls apart within months. Seriously.
How we became cursed
Well, basically, we blame Persh. Statecorp were part of The Forsaken Empire, having fun in Tribute fighting the evil ATUK corporation and their nasty friends. Then Persh goes and naps them, which quickly leads to internal squabbling and the subsequent destruction of FE alliance. We buggered off to Pure Blind.
Spreading the Curse
In Tribute we'd been a pretty disparate bunch, off doing our own thing for a lot of the time. In Pure Blind we learned to fight together as a corporation and formed the basis of the inimitable Statecorp combat style: sending some bugger through in a tanked Scorpion to get aggro so everyone else can claim the killmail glory.
We'd joined FREGE and were living in P-2 in ISS Borealis and rampaged up and down the pipe to low sec shooting at ASCN who were great sports and often died in large numbers just so we could learn proper PvP. Good times.
FREGE teamed up neighbours Ekliptika to form Sunstorm Dominion, but so awful as the name of that alliance that the Curse kicked in and within weeks we were back in FREGE shooting the SD guys, who quickly left to reform Ekliptika. We decided to move on as the politics were confusing us.
Catch us if you can
Or Statecorp: The Zoom Zoom Zoom years. As part of Huzzah we became famous for stomping over enemy gangs while the main allaince were still looking for X's. This was due to an early combination of forward scout alts and a rampaging lust for death, destruction and, erm, d-explosions. Statecorp mascot Go Maz coined our corp motto for us one day when he remarked "Statecorp are all zoom zoom zoom and we're all :'("
Inevitably the Curse started to weaken the alliance as first the nasty BoB alliance came to V2- to smack us around and then Evil Thug formed aAa in our faces. It wasn't fun.
You can never go home again
Well, actually, you can. Quite often. After Huzzah we joined Veritas Immortalis and returned to the Great Wildlands area. This was the period of the Southern Coalitions greatest strength, with Lotka Voltera riding high and -V-, KOS, CHIMP et al on their coat tails. Several Empire wars with the evil Red Alliance and the nasty Imperium followed and generally we all had jolly good fun taking turns to collect Xirtam killmails.
Our first weekend in -V- coincided with the last attack on CJ-, when coalition leaders decided "Nah, sod it, we'll leave them one system. After all, they're not going to do much with that." Hindsight is a bitch. We'd came in an cursed every alliance in the south.
The Wandering Years
We decided that we just plain didn't want to be in anyone elses alliance. They were all rubbish and they all wanted to do stuff with POS that just didn't interest us. So we formed our own. It was called, imaginatively, The State. It's dead now. We cursed it. But before it died we took it around the universe. In Fountain we totally owned WY-. Seriously, it was ours. Then we went to Syndicate and generally didn't have much fun as it's quite dull there. But after that we went back to Fountain and reclaimed WY-. Next move was Geminate were we spent a wonderful few months shooting miners and killing carriers in asteroid belts. Good times. Great times.
Best forgotten actually
We went back to -V-. Broken, beaten, living out of E02. It sucked.
Wow that's a lot of jump ins
We joined Insurgency, took some space, beat our chests on the forums and then got gang banged by the North. All of it. Glad that's over.
The Triumphant Return
Syndicate isn't that bad really.
The End
Statecorp closed it's doors in September 2009. Gone, but not forgotten. Read more about our adventures here
