Summary

Ships in Eve can have as many as 8 equipped weapons of the same type. The weapons in Eve use ammo, or ammo-like items: Lasers use crystals, missile launchers use missiles and guns use ammo. This ammo is loaded into the weapons, and when it is depleted, the weapons need to be reloaded. However, while we can reload all weapons with their current ammo type manually, we cannot load all our weapons with a different ammo type in one go. While this may seem a luxury problem, we believe this is a small change to the interface that will benefit almost every pilot in the Eve universe.

Potential Solutions

The weapon-module right click menu currently has the options ‘Reload...’, ‘Reload all…’ and an option to load the applicable ammo types that are currently in your ship’s cargo hold. We propose the addition of the option ‘Reload all with…’ which would expand into a sub menu listing the different applicable ammo types in your cargo hold. Selecting ‘Reload all with…’ and then clicking on ‘Scourge Heavy Missile’ would load Scourge Heavy Missiles into all Heavy Missile Launchers fitted and online on the ship.

Adding this option would not impact game balance, and would remove the chore of manually reloading a large battery of missile launchers, railguns or artillery. Additionally it should not place more stress on the game infrastructure, as reloading a large number of modules is already possible, it just has to be done manually. In fact, if implemented correctly it can reduce 8 ‘reload weapon with…’ network commands to one ‘reload all weapons with…’ network command, thus reducing the network traffic to and from the Eve-Online servers.
