Dropsuit Classification Overview

Physical Features

Heavy Dropsuits are any form of dropsuit whose design has been purely focused on the aspect of defense. The immensely large size in comparison to other dropsuits does give an imposing presence. They are the largest known worn suit class in existence as of YC115 and that anything remotely larger in similar function would be the Mechanized Torso - Articulated Chassis.

Appeal

While a heavy dropsuit is similar in pricing to its lighter weight cousins, these dropsuits are typically sought for their defensive and sometimes offensive poweress. Able to withstand large amounts of withering firepower even some forms of anti-vehicle weapons makes these suits difficult to bring down. They are the sole class able to use heavy weapons as well where other frames would buckle and bend picking these weapons the heavy heaves it as if it was light as a feather.

Roles

Heavy Suits are best used in urbanized fighting where the distances to be covered are short, and the notion of getting flanked minimized. They serve excellently as point defense, suppression, or storm troopers barging into a crowded room. Other uses include LAV operators, and heavy weapons platforms for lighter weapons such as sniper rifles.

Strengths

Heavies extreme amount of HP makes them nearly defiant of any smaller order sent against them. The servos used for lifting the heavy weapons can nearly split a man into two in melee combat and the ability to wield heavy weapons cannot be discounted as clear cut advantages of the suit.

Weaknesses

Unfortunately the heavy dropsuit suffers in stamina, speed, flexibility, agility, and many more hallmark qualities lighter frames enjoy. Not to mention the large size does make the heavy frame an easier target to all manner of weapons fire including HAV attacks. Most heavy suits do not feature an equipment slot as well making them require help from other frames in order to continue fighting effectively. With so much of the outer layer dedicated to defenses few surfaces where spared for sensors making the heavy suit the least stealthies and most blind suit class known.

Similar Frames

Heavy have an extended family tree of advanced specialized suits consisting of the flexible Commando and the vigilant Sentinel suits.
