K-Space stands for "Known Space", and refers to any solar system not located inside a wormhole. K-Space is a label that contrasts with the term W-Space, which identifies a solar system or area as a location residing within a wormhole.

Solar Systems in K-Space are accessible via jump gates. W-Space systems are only accessible via wormholes.
