A safespot is a bookmark in space that is off-grid or further away from any celestial objects. Safespots are used as hiding places by pilots. They can be found by pilots using scan probes if another pilot or item is at the safespot. However, safespots serve a number of purposes in fleet and gang combat situations.

Safespots can also refer to safe positions within the system, such as within friendly POS shield bubbles.

Creating Safespots

Setting a safespot between celestials

This is the most common form of safespot.

  1. Open the people and places window, click the Places tab.
  2. Warp to any celestial object and place a bookmark midwarp (click "Ok" midwarp).
  3. Warp to your first safe spot.
  4. Pick a new celestial object, warp to it, and place another bookmark midwarp (click "Ok" midwarp).
  5. Delete the first bookmark.
  6. Warp to your final safe spot when danger arises.

Off-Grid Safespots

Off-grid safespots can be used to provide rapid access to a particular object such as a gate or as a safe point to use to scan with a limited range on directional scanner, for example to scan ships at a POS.

  1. Fly in a random direction away from a celestial object until the celestial disappears (~500km typically)
  2. Once off-grid, create a bookmark.

Deep Safespots

In earlier versions of EVE it was possible to create a safespot very far off-grid (approx 100+ AU) by using deviation from scan probes. This is no longer possible to accomplish and saved deep safespots were deleted. These would allow a ship to hide in a system outside of scan range and range of probes.
