Why is Terran technology often portrayed as far more advanced than New Eden's? Haven't the empires been in space longer than the Terrans were before they came through the EVE Gate and settled- or have I got that wrong? I know of course the fiction has the empires having to start from scratch but doesnt it also imply they have now been spacefaring once again for over a millenia? --Caiman Graystock 14:04, 19 December 2008 (UTC)

Has the EVE history been retconned? The established backstory (http://www.eveonline.com/background/jump/jump_01.asp) clearly points out that the EVE Gate is a stargate built next to the wormhole, but not the wormhole itself. If the backstory has been retconned that's fine, but in that case the retconning probably should be mentioned.

- From reading that article I think that we can say that the structure and the wormhole are one and the same. The structure is somehow connected to the wormhole to stabilize it; ships wanting to travel between the galaxies activate the gate and enter the wormhole. The collapse of the EVE wormhole and the explosion of the EVE gate device are the same event.
