"So I'm hungry, I have pot noodle with no pot, but wait, I'm in the crypt right? I knew it was here somewhere, Tron and I had argued about it just the night before, stupid "Teapot of Justice", I was sick of the old rituals, dressing up in those Minmatar slave girl costumes and drinking lemon tea while watching Podpilot Idol. To hell with it, I looked around and there it was mounted on a plinth adorned with the Purple Arms and next to the Forbidden Toaster of Desire. There was nothing else for it, I grabbed the teapot, filled in the potless pot noodle, added water, pew pew with the shooty gun and it was hot as hell. Mmmmmm sacrilegious.

Just as I'm scoffing the last few chemically altered wheat noodles in he walks, flanked by General Arkaiser and Commander Thrace. I have to say, while it was clearly a grave moment in New Eden history, the look on his face was great. He erupted into one of his great rants, I didn't even listen to the words, I knew by the look on the faces of Sarkus and Arkaiser there was no backing down now, we'd gone too far, just as I knew that Thrace would eventually side with us.

I walk straight past them and out, opening my communicator and signalling General Raivi, "The time has come, the revolution begins today. RED DESTINY!"..."

Red versus Blue (or RvB) is a straight-forward institution. There are two high-sec corporations, the Red Federation and the Blue Republic, with a permanent war declaration between them. Any player may join either side as they wish and indulge in target-rich PvP, the focus of which is on inexpensive frigate and cruiser combat. It really is that simple: Apply to one of the corps, the application will be accepted, jump in a ship, start PvPing.

Currently RvB is in it's second war, based in Kaala Constellation in the Lonetrek region.

Potted History

The First War: 2008

The project originally began in late 2007 with war starting in 2008 and was active for approximately 12 weeks. The project was organised and lead by Plave Okice.

The Second War: 2009 - Present

Planning for the return of RvB began approximately two years after the end of the first war going live of the 30th of September 2009, again under the guidance of Plave Okice. It was a blood bath. In the first month alone just under 7000 ships were destroyed with Blue and Red corps being 2 and 3 (behind GoonFleet) in the total kills for that period. Over time rules were formulated governing the use of ECM (to give better fights) and outlawing podding of RvB members (to protect the wallet, for particularly newer players) keeping the focus on high-octane PvP. Plave Okice left for another project a short time after the second war went live which preceded the passing of a number of CEOs for both corps over the coming year. At the end of the summer 2010 the current overseer, Del DelVechio, took office of both corps and RvB has never looked back.

The region in which RvB operates periodically changes to keep things fresh and interesting. Currently RvB can be found in The Forge. Red HQ is currently the Expert Housing Foundry in Otela at planet II. Blue HQ is currently the Sukuuvestaa Corporation Production Plant in Liekuri at planet VI, moon 4. Whilst the HQ of each corporation tend to dictate the most active areas for RvB, combat is allowed anywhere in The Forge and members are not limited to storing their ships in their corporation's HQ.

Rules and Regs

RvB has several rules that must be observed by all pilots:

1. No Podding RvB members.
Remove pods from your overviews for RvB engagements. If you pod someone you will be given a chance to reimburse them for their loss. If this does not occur, you will be removed from RvB.

2. PvP against RvB members is limited to the Lonetrek region as well as Alikara & Aikoro.
Combat against other RvB members is also allowed in all low security and 0.0 security space.

3. No ECM mid slot modules can be used at any time against other members of RvB.
The only exception to this is when opposing FCs agree to use ECM. Note mid slot ECM refers to the offensive modules that fit in mid slots that reduce the number of lockable targets of a ship to zero. This rule does NOT apply to ANY other form of electronic warfare such as ECM drones, target painting, sensor damping, tracking disruption, etc.

4. Honour arranged fights.
These are generally 1v1s, but they could involve more players. They should be held at a planet or moon agreed upon by the participants. If you find other players fighting at a planet or a moon, do not engage any of the ships involved until (1) they have all left the grid, or (2) one of them engages you. Any additional rules for arranged fights are up to the participants and will not be enforced by the RvB leadership.

5. Ship limitations in the SYSTEM of the opposing corporation's HQ.
The following are NOT allowed: Battleships, Command Ships, Tech 3 Cruisers (also known as Strategic Cruisers), T2 Logistic Ships.

6. Neutral Boosting/Repping/Probers.
Use of neutral character for these actions is not allowed. Put your alt characters into your respective Corporation if you wish to engage in these practices.

7. Please try to avoid JITA on your RVB characters.
If you go there and get podded by the numerous 3rd party War Targets we have there, you WILL be required to either pay a 500m ISK fine or leave RVB. This action is to discourage folks from handing 3rd party war targets easy kills, which encourage them to keep doing what they do.

8. Don’t smack talk or otherwise complain about unfair fights, the other team shipping up / refusing to ship down, blobbing, ganking, camping, sniping, obvious bait, or anything else.
The team leaders have a channel to deal with all of those things and you aren’t helping them by spamming corp, RvB, fleet, or local. A director / team leader may request that you stop being a pain in the ass; ignore this request at your own risk.

Any pilot is allowed to join with any skill level be it a fresh off the tutorial new player wanting to see what PvP in Eve has to offer or a 125mil SP null-sec vet looking for a change of pace to an industrial pilot looking for something to spend their money on. RvB takes all sorts. Fights range from 1v1s, small gang warfare to pitched fleet battles involving 30+ man purple (red and blue combined against a 3rd party) fleets. So there is something for everyone. Added to that there are tournaments (both solo and small gang) and free-for-alls insuring there's always something different in the pipeline. And the "open door" policy means if you need to drop corp to bolster the bank or any other reason you can come and go as you please.

Main Perks

- Lots of fights! Over 60,000 ships destroyed in 2011 alone. Both Red Federation and Blue Republic in 2011 each have more than twice the number of kills of ANY corporation in New Eden.

- Something for everyone: Pilots of all ages, from 2003 to 2011.

- Tournaments, competitions and free-for-alls keep the action fresh, many with the ships even provided - all to keep you creating explosions.

- FCs on both sides trying to get good fights, not hot-dropping in half a dozen guardians as soon as you engage.

- Prizes often donated by senior members for competitions and raffles - ranging from GTCs to faction ships.

- Rules designed to promote fun fights and keep those attribute boosting implants safe.

- Open door policy. Come and go as you please (applications accepted within 24hrs but normally much faster)

- No commitment. You can be involved as much or as little as you like. And no one will demand you turn up for POS seige after seige.

Check out the recruitment threads (old and new) for more details or drop by the "R-V-B" channel ingame if you have questions.

Alliance Tournament IX

The summer of 2011 saw RvB enter two teams into the alliance tournament, one from each corporation. Both teams made it through the selection stage. Unfortunately Blue Republic were drawn against the eventual "runners-up" Outbreak and despite winning their second qualifier were unable to get through. Red Federation fared better making it into the group stages, being involved in three of the closest fights in the group stages but ultimately only winning one.
