Helljumpers were founded from members of [[Slacker Industries (Player corporation)|Slacker Industries]] when they found that they didn't get the respect they earned. The members felt that the lack of respect were due to their sexual orientation.

Helljumpers have since the start been proud of being a sanctuary for gay and/or transexual pilots.

=Double Dutch Rudders=

Most members of Helljumpers are of proud Dutch seafaring heritage. Therefore, when the decision was made to found an alliance, it was not hard to come up with a suitable name. Double Dutch Rudders was born.

Under the new flag, Helljumpers ventured into the north, seeking new adventures. First stop was Pure Blind. The ocean of targets that were the NC was too tempting to resist.

Early in the campaign it was realized that a fertile land for farming killmails had been found in the systems held by DEFI4NT. At the time they were pets of TCF and had been given a few systems surrounding YA0-XJ in Deklein.

Finding fellow queers in DEFI4NT happy of supplying inside information was not hard. The stream of tears in form of chat logs and alliance mails regarding our presence in the area seemed endless. Among other things were all pilotes in DEFI4NT forbidden to type anything in local, and doing so resulted in a fine that had to be paid to the alliance.

At this time, DDR had drawn some attention from CCP. Someone that obviously did not like the DDR lifestyle had filed a petiton against the alliance in a desperate attempt to thwart the ongoing onslaught. As a result, the alliance name was reset. Despite efforts to convince CCP to give the alliance it's name back, and thus restore it's glory, all attempts were futile. In the end, the alliance had to settle with the name Double Dietsch Rudders.

We may never know what reason CCP had to discriminate queers of Dutch seafaring heritage.
