The members who make up [[Phoenix|Phoenix]] Propulsion Laboratories (PPL) come from all walks of life including retired/active military, law enforcement, engineers, and home makers. This mentality has been tamed and brought to bear resulting in the quasi-military structure of [[Phoenix|Phoenix]] Propulsion Labs. A summary that describes how PPL operates is a "socialist corporation with a military hierarchy and structure." 

We have all played other MMORPG games with similar principles to EVE and a few of us have also contributed to those games in the form of Councilors, Guides, Alpha/Beta testers and numerous other developmental and administrative tasks. All of this has been volunteer work and all in the name of role play, fun, fantasy and fiction. Some of us have even run popular Guilds, Clans and Corporations within these other games. With over seventy years of experience to support us, we hope to give the most enjoyment to our players. 

Recently, PPL was featured in the 2nd issue of [[EON|EON]] Magazine. Not only did we pay to have an advertisement included in the magazine, but in a demonstration of the PPL mentality, one of our members contributed to the magazine by writing an article on best [[Recruiting|recruiting]] practices. Additionally, PPL was recognized as eighth in a list of the top ten production corporations in the EVE universe in 2006.

[[Phoenix|Phoenix]] Propulsion Labs has been structured around simple principles, some of which have been proven to work in the real world, some of which can only work in the EVE Universe. These principles are socialism, economics, and discipline. Even though PPL does not answer to share holders, the company's primary goals are making the highest quality product available for our customers as well as increasing corporate [[Assets|assets]]. All profits made from sales goes directly into the corporate coffer for support, improvement, and growth. Furthermore, all members of PPL contribute from their activities in-game whether it is [[Mining|mining]], [[Mission|mission]] running, or construction. In turn, all members of the corporation have their equipment, [[Ship|ship]], and skill packs furnished by the corporation on an as needed basis. Also, a system of discipline that can be dynamic and change as needed (from rigid to lax) has also helped ensure that members of PPL are honest about reporting their income. These two elements combined have not only kept the corporation solvent, but have also enabled the corporation to keep its members well supplied and content. 

As was pointed out earlier, PPL is interested in increasing and improving corporate [[Assets|assets]] and providing the best quality [[Ships|ships]] in the EVE universe. However, we have not lost sight of some really important factors in any MMORPG experience. Fun, achievement and entertainment! While PPL works hard towards these goals, all of us always remember that this is a game that each of us pays to play. Without having fun as well as having a sense of achievement the prospect of slaving away for hours to produce a [[Ship|ship]] or make profit becomes rather bleak. Furthermore, here at [[Phoenix|Phoenix]] Propulsion Labs, we firmly believe that real life comes first. We don't expect you to log-in and mine if it’s your night to watch the kids nor do we expect you to choose participating in a corporate event as opposed to spending time with a real life loved one. 

We hold our employees in extremely high regard. We do not believe that our employees are just a faceless number or just meat on a keyboard. We believe they are as important as the [[Minerals|minerals]] they mine, the [[Blueprints|blueprints]] they research or the [[Ships|ships]] they produce. We are all for expression and creative thinking, yet doing so in a manner respectful to the other employees around you.

The inception of [[Phoenix|Phoenix]] Propulsion Labs is a result of numerous contributions and ideas from many sources. There are many who dedicated a lot of time and effort to help promote PPL. Yes there were many issues and heated discussions, but their belief and resolve for creating a fun environment for the players never diminished. I have the utmost respect for everyone who added their piece to the puzzle that made PPL come alive. (And they know who they are). We could not have accomplished building this Corporation without the aid of its employees and other "real life" sources of wisdom.
