The acceleration gate is a very dated piece of technology, from the earliest days of space travel when warp drives were not fitted to ships as standard. These days, this antique technology has found a new use by warping ships into places where normal warp drives normally do not function, usually referred to as [[Deadspace]].

Acceleration gates are activated within 2500m and are used by [[Agents|NPC Corp Agents]] for [[Missions guide|mission]] running.

It's common to find deadspaces -and thus acceleration gates- in exploration complexes, missions dungeons and other such locations.  They often require a special key to be in your cargohold, all surrounding enemies to be destroyed, or other conditions to be met before they can be activated. Additionally, many gates (especially in complexes) have size restrictions and will only let certain ship classes pass through.
